The Council on American-Islamic Relations is demanding an apology from editorial cartoonist Doug Marlette and his employer, the Tallahassee Democrat, for a cartoon portraying the Prophet Muhammad driving a nuclear-bomb laden truck.
Headlined "What Would Mohammed Drive?" the cartoon is a play off the recent debate over whether Jesus would drive an SUV or not. It shows Muhammad driving a truck similar to that used by Timothy McVeigh in the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing.
"Defamatory attacks on Islam and on the Prophet Muhammad by media outlets or religious leaders only serve to harm our nation's image worldwide and divide America along religious lines. Unfortunately, it now seems to be 'open season' on Islam in certain religious and political circles," said CAIR Executive Director Nihad Awad.
Christians to Nihad Dipwad: Welcome to our world!
Someone needs to sit this a-hole down and TRY to explain the 1st Amendment to him.
Last week the father of Mohamed Atta, whose name and picture also appeared in your paper was interviewed on the Egyptian Satellite Arabic Channel and said that his son, Mohamed Atta, was well and alive working now in the Untied Arab Emirates!
If three of the 19 suspected "hijackers" are still alive, who were the other 16? The important questions are: Who is impersonating these three Muslim Arabs? Why are Muslim Arabs been implicated in this terrorism? And, who could "benefit" from this horrific tragedy? Definitely mainstream Muslims by the consensus of Islamic religious scholars since the dawn of Al-Islaam could NOT be the culprits, because the Islamic teachings state: "Do not kill the life that God made sacred." Suicide and killing innocent people are sinful acts punishable on the Day of Judgment, nay even before that, in the grave."

Unfortunately, some Muslims seem to have as good a sense of humor as they have sense in general.
Just by being a "cartoon" implies that the author's goal is to bring some levity to a tense subject. Perhaps Nihad doesn't think it's funny but that doesn't give him the right to keep playing the Perpetual Victim's card some Muslims play again and again. Furthermore, if it were a Christian bitching like Nihad is, the mainstream media would be all over the story. It would be wall-to-wall and nasty as hell. But Muslims are allowed to scream "Woe is me" with impunity because they're the liberal cause du jour right now.
I'd like to have Nihad's unbiased view on a real-life photo. This photo . . .
I'm sure Nihad, since Muslims who crave media attention are known for their fairness, would like to condemn his brothers and sisters in the photo. He complains of alleged biases. Muslim biases are far easily proven.
Hey, Nihad, have you ever heard of Bonnie Penner? No? Somehow that doesn't surprise me. She was a Christian missionary who was murdered in Lebanon for being a Christian missionary.
Now, Nihad, tell me again about that cartoon. Did you really say open season? I think our definitions of that term differ a bit.
Note he did not say"harm our religion", he said nation.
If Islam is a nation, it should stay within its borders, instead of attempting to harm our nation by infilitration and overt attempts to destroy our nation.
If Islam is a nation, not a religion, they should not be allowed to claim USA religious freedom as their cloak for their attempt to overthrow our government.
But I forget, logic is not an Islamic stong point.
