The writ gives a number of reasons for Fearon's claim, including his leg injuries, which prevent him finding work, concern about his "long-term sexual functioning" and becoming "very tearful" when watching a film in which someone dies.

He is also said to claim that he is afraid of fireworks, no longer enjoys ju-jitsu and kick-boxing and becomes depressed when TV shows contain gunfire.

What a shame, with better aim the problem would have been solved.

This is what lawyers and courts are all about. "The Rule of Law" is a farce and a sham on this nation and all nations that have blood suckers scaming the public.
The rule of so called law is being circumvented and honset people can no longer defend themselves or trust our system of JUST-US!

The rule of law is a farce indeed. The number of "innocent" loopholes that are used to insinuate the continuing tormenting of innocent people by criminals through the courts is absolutely unacceptable. The benefit of the doubt principle, innocent until proven guilty, should lend itself in the decisions of procedures. Anyone throwing out the baby with the bathwater in the name of perfect justice ought to be put in the same detention centers the Nuremberg criminals shared.

Our justice system was never meant to handle all cases and all claims, it certainly was not meant to prioritize the perfection of justice above that of the effectiveness of justice, justice doing its job: santuarizing a civil society. Dirty does not mean unjust or condemning, it is fact of life.

The burglar injured by Tony Martin after he broke into the farmer's home is suing him for £15,000 compensation for loss of earnings

WTF????

England, you're finished. Sorry, but any vestiges of your proud heritage are dead.

Is this not the most blatant miscarriage of justice you’ve ever read? England is swallowing her once brilliant self whole, leaving the isle to the criminals. Not a place I want to be ever again.

We must never ever let this happen in America and they will be trying again in ’03 to make this country look as stupid as England and Australia. If the 9th gets their way in CA with their decision that the 2nd Amendment doesn’t mean what it says, and you can’t protect yourself, then it is reasonable to assume there are enough anti-gun nuts to make it carry across the country. Stay in tune with your states legislatures; watch closely how they are leaning and let your voice be heard in favor of guns. We are a free Nation for now, but let them further strap us, the rest will be history.

That this cretin is still alive to sue anybody is an indictment, first of British marksmanship, and finally of the English gene pool's apparent ability to produce those self-directed individuals who are capable of applying some late night field expedient justice.

No nation that surrenders to this level of numb-nutted wussiness can, or deserves to, survive.

coming soon to the US....?

It already has. Any time one uses lethal force, or even non-lethal force, in self-defense, one's opening oneself to crimnal and civil litigation. There have been many cases here in the US where burglars or other criminals, after having been defended against, will sue their victims for such amusing things as "loss of income."

There is a rumored case where a woman shot a man who was attempting to rape her, and he sued her for his later inability to pursue his rape career.

Sorry, we are not a free nation now. "shall not be infringed" has been infringed quite a bit - what is the Assault Weapon Ban, but the actual disarmament of the militia? If we want to regain our freedom we will have to fight to recover what has been taken - namely our fundamental rights. They have been taken for many reasons, all nominally good, but our freedoms have been erroded nonetheless. The 1st Amendment says "Congress shall make no law" and then they pass Campaign Finance Reform and GW signs it into law. The list goes on. First we have to understand that we are presently in what Joe Sobran acurately describes as "Post-Constitutional" America. Much more to do after that.

This is a disgusting indictment of the English courts. The suer is a sewer dweller and they should tar and feather him on BBC for entertainment.

Circa 1985 a burglar sued a property owner in, I believe, Sacramento California. He fell through the skylight while on his way to burglarize the premises. He won $850,000 for a dangerous condition of the premises.

Give all power to the many, they will oppress the few. Give all power to the few they will oppress the many. Both therefore ought to have power, that each may defend itself agst. the other.

In other words, Feardon could have earned £15,000 from fencing stolen property since 1999.

I wonder if movies about blood-sucking, worthless, bottom- dwelling, scum make him depressed as well.

So over there, someone breaks into your house. You 1) let 'em have their way or 2) if you decide to defend yourself, you do so with the understanding that your life is over.

As in the post above, coming soon to the U.S. Even if it's not that bad here yet, I understand a completely legal and justified shooting can cause you $10-$20k in legal fees.

Well, I guess if he loses the suit, he can always burgle the burglars home to get his money back.

This should be a wake up call to those Limeys still willing to defend themselves. Drag the dead body away from your home. You certainly don't have anything to lose...
