You ask how Hillary could possibly be elected? She is a master manipulator. She will be drafted at the convention in 2004 and not have to be bloodied in the primaries.

No she won't. The presidential election process simply doesn't work that way any more. There are plenty of down-and-dirty RATS that want to run in 2008, and are also young enough to owe NOTHING to the Queen. They're not going to sit back and/or roll over for some fat old hag that is largely responsible for the utter destruction of their party over the prior 15+ years.

I think most people on FR wildly overestimate Hitlery's popularity within her own party. Except for the lesbian contingent and the hardcore Clintonistas (of whom there are fewer with each passing day), the RATS want her to run about as much as they did Al Gore. Maybe 20-25% tops.

In 1972, three candidates won roughly equal portions of the vote in the Democrat primary. One, an old-fashioned southern Democrat, actually managed to win northern states like Michigan and Maryland. Another, an old-line liberal with union backing, was the favorite of the party machinery. The winner was a radical leftist with hard-core support among the core group which has since taken over the party machinery. By today's standards among the party, he looks almost moderate. Can you name them?

Accurate assessment. The democrats I know hate Clinton (now) that they realize he and his wife ran the party off a cliff. Took them a decade to figure it out, and I hate to say "I told ya so" but I *did* tell them, and they wouldn't listen. The good people of Arkansas tried to warn us. Oh Well.
