>Where do you think the 'crat in "Dixiecrat" came from? And what party did Strom Thurmond run back to after his failed 1948 Dixiecrat presidential bid? The Democrats. Oh yeah, and when Trent Lott was actually a segragationist, guess which party he belonged to? Yep, the DEMOCRATS.<
Remember also George Wallace? He went right back into the Rat party as soon as his segregationist stand failed, and they re-elected him governor of AL!

Not to stick up for Wallace but I read that Nixon didn't want Wallace to run as a 3rd party canidate in 1972 and wanted him back in the democratic party. Word was that Nixon was going to have the IRS look into Wallaces brothers business dealings if George Wallace didn't go back to the dems. The rest is history. Sounds possible.

Wake up, Democrats! This is not 1968. You still haven't gotten the message of 9/11. Yes, the voting public cares about racial equality (even Republicans), but it is no longer the predominant issue. Protecting this country from those who would come over here and murder us all - black and white - is foremost in the minds of most of the voters now. Political opportunists in the Democratic Party can rant and rave about this Lott thing if they want to, but when it is all said and done, all they are doing is demonstrating to us all that they are far more interested these sensationalist and inflammatory issues than they are with national security.
