Interesting. I just finished reading an old (ca.1972) book "The Arab Mind" (LCCN 72-11120) by one Raphael Patai. Buried in it (on p.221) is this gem: "For example, the Iraqi government was unable to carry out a program in 1932 because the people had no less than 100,000 rifles as against the 15,000 owned by the government."

It is therefore astonishing and disturbing Americans have been assailed in the last several years by politicians putting forth dangerous proposals leading to the construction of the type of freedom-eroding scaffold... Great article, but the author is too kind. That ain't no scaffold being constructed, it is the outer walls of our prison.
