A HUGE force of at least 300,000 Allied troops will be sent to Iraq to topple Saddam Hussein, The Sun can reveal.

And the build-up to war will be launched by the Ministry of Defence TODAY.

Allied military chiefs have advised US President George Bush and PM Tony Blair that Iraqi forces must be swamped if Saddam is to be deposed...

Two Ideas spring to mind on why we would use so many:

1. It is expected that we will lose a large portion of our forces in a WMD attack, so we need a manpower reserve on-site.

2. Iraq makes a wonderful base of operations for more work that may need doing in the Middle East and Eurasia.

I not thrilled that they are so telling in what we have and where. Haven't they heard the phrase "loose lips sink ships". Having said that, if this was a move to give Hussain some sleepless nights it just might do that.
