Like their New York counterparts, they want smaller breasts and waists, according to Wacoal survey
HER waist is a shade under 69.49 cm and she wears a size 34B bra.
That, says the lingerie company Wacoal, is the average Singapore woman.
And she's not happy about it because she thinks she is too big.
She wants smaller boobs and a trimmer waist, though Wacoal's survey rates her as pretty average for Asian women.
Its findings were published yesterday in Oriental Daily, a Hongkong newspaper. Wacoal carries out the survey every 10 years, it said.
This year, the lingerie company measured more than 1,700 women between 20 and 40 years old, in 12 cities.
The Chinese women interviewed think Christy Chung, Coco Lee and Norika Fujiwara have the sexiest bodies. Jennifer Lopez and Julia Roberts were tops in the western women's list of hot bods.
Women in Hongkong, Taipei, Shanghai, Tokyo and Seoul came closest to the classic hour-glass shape, while those in New York, Manila and Jakarta were more I-shaped, or what Wacoal called the proportional body category.
The Parisian woman is more V-shaped, that is, her upper body is bigger.
Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok women are the reverse - they are A-shaped, that is, pear-shaped.
The women were also asked about their ideal body type.
Women in Hongkong and Taiwan really want to be Parisian. They would like bigger breasts and smaller hips.
Women in Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Shanghai and Seoul want bigger breasts and bigger hips. Bear in mind that Kuala Lumpur women are already the best endowed, with cup sizes bigger than those of New York and Taipei women.
As for their sisters in Tokyo, Bangkok and Paris, well, they want to be more I-shaped.
Only women in Singapore and New York, it seems, want smaller waists and smaller breasts.
Really?
The Straits Times asked several people to, well, get it off their chests.
Not too skinny, said several men, including Mr Gerald See, 25, a director of a creative design company.
'It's actually a natural instinct for guys to like women with hour-glass figures because most of us would not want just skin and bones,' he said.
Mr Henry Lim, 38, a business manager, took a different tack. Although 'it might matter when you are younger', he noted it would matter less as people got older and are married.
As for university student Mindy Chia, 22, she said that she wasn't as particular about her boobs. She stressed: 'I just want to be slim.'
Primary school teacher Wendy See, 53, said: 'For older women like me, what matters is our health because each individual has a different body type.'

I am in KL right now and can confirm: Very high level of endowment. This is the Sweden of Asia.
I was going to compare faces are but then I realized I hadn't looked at any faces. Oh, well.
I can't agree with the more fun part though - statistically less sensitive and to be honest a handful is all that's needed. I am with the Brazilians in this department, and if you have ever seen a Reef ad you know what I mean.
