Well said and I agree with just about everything you've stated.

I didn't think Lott's treatment of the House managers was proper, but I also don't blame Lott for not getting 51 votes to oust Clinton from office. Although that would have been an tremendous accomplishment on his part, it wasn't possible. There was just no way the RINO's were going to vote Slick out of office.

Having said that, my biggest beef with Lott, was over his inability to hold onto the Senate last year. In hindsight, since I wasn't in Lott's shoes, may be I'm out of line, but I still believe stronger efforts could have been made. If that meant, offering Jeffords something special, in order to keep Senate control in the hands of Republicans, then, so be it. It was too critical a time for PresBushes agenda, to allow Senate power to shift to the Democrats. We had a horrible year and a half because of Lott's bad decisions and sub par leadership. And for that, I wanted him to step down from his ML position.

But what is happening now, is outrageous.

The liberal establishment has been raising hell all week and the liberal media, along with some serious Lott haters, have joined in a move to destroy Trent Lott. They want him to resign his Senate seat for stupid remarks, taken out of context to fit a discription of Lott being a segregationist and a racist. I don't buy into it. It's too thin. At one time, may be 40 years ago, Lott could have been considered a segregationist, I don't believe that's true today.

They won't strip. Nice try.

It's Day 23 of the filibuster on the PBA bill, and Trent Lott's detractors have brought the Senate to a standstill. If the bill doesn't get yanked, the FY2004 budget will get delayed. What now, genius?

I totally agree with your post 161. With a tiny exception, I don't think Sen. Lott tried hard enough during the Clinton impeachement to stand up for the "law" of our land.

He was wishy washy regarding a president lying under oath and that was repulsive to us. (You could tell it was extremely distasteful to him. Made us wonder what the libs had on him from the stolen FBI Files)

He should have been more outspoken. Which is one of the major problems we have with him.

But I agree with you 200 percent. For him to leave now, under these circumstances, would only FEED into the "Black Caucus" feeling they had extreme power over conservatives.

In light of history,.. it is the epitomy of hypocracy, and I don't want to give them that kind of power.

So there in lies my problem with all this. I'd love to see Sen. Lott step down from the leadership position.. but I do NOT want it to be for this issue alone. You are correct,.. it "is" outrageous!!

Now we are left with a huge delimma. For the greater good of the party... do we insist he leave? Or.. do we want him to stay so the Black Caucus gets the message that "we ain't buying their brand of racism"? (Which is so obvious. They are a bunch of bigots!!)

And the Dems simply keep filibustering, and it's pathetically obvious that the only thing Lott will be allowed to do is whatever Daschle et al want.

I used to agree that letting Clinton get away during the impeachment was wrong but looking at Bubba now and knowing how he craves attention and he craves to be loved, he has become a joke. He ran around like he was god during the Nov election and look what happened ! Bwahahaa !

He is a liability to the RAT party but they will not let go of him, he's the poster boy of failure. And this, had Bubba been impeached I am almost certain that Gore would have been elected President on the sympathy of Bubba vote.

Don't underestimate what letting Bubba off the hook did for the GOP.

Fine, fine. The economy is still in the tank, Bush is unable to get a tax cut through the Senate, and his re-elect numbers just dipped below 50% going into the New Hampshire Primary. McCain and Tom Tancredo both make bids for the GOP nomination.

I say, Lott should stay. If Frist, Santorum, McConnell or Nichols wants to challenge Lott for the leadership of the Senate, they should go for it. But I don't want Lott to turn tail and run, because the liberal establishment has labeled him a racist. I want conservatives and Republicans to show some loyality, in their opposition to liberal Democrats.

Conservatives and Republicans should be all over the tube, on every talking head show, telling the truth. Telling everyone, how without Republican votes in the mid 1960`s, the Civil Rights Act of 1965 would have never passed into law. How Robert Byrd was a member of the KKK and how Earnest Hollings was a confederate segregationist, to the core. How Algore "Senior" voted against the Civil Rights Act. How Sen.Sam Ervin was a southern segregationist. And how, Bill Clinton admired another segregantionist, Senator J.William Fulbright.

The Republican Party is the party of Abe Lincoln and it was Lincoln who freed the slaves. Not FDR, JFK, LBJ or Bill Clinton! But as long as black America remains under the umbrella of the Democratic Party and liberal socialism, they will never be truly free.

I'm not about to throw him to the wolves over some dumb comments that have been taken completely out of context.

Just how was the remark taken out of context? It was clear as a bell. If you don't believe me, you can watch the video yourself on C-Span's archives, just look for Strom Thurmond's 100th birthday party and go to minute 30.

Are we to become the party that does what the republic hating media wants us to do?

The more they pile on, the more the dems threaten, the more I will defend Lott.

If the dems want to continue on with their obstruction while the country is in need of solutions, then so be it.

Rev.Petersen an awesome man

If only he could salvage that remnant that is so dependent on welfare as a means of living he could break that circle of dependance that has enslaved so many for years. But with the likes of Sharpton, Jesse and Maxine the battle for these remnants will be crucial.

The democrats are using the right wing writers and Bush.

The democrats don't need to do any more because the right will turn out to be like an ouroboros and eat themselves.

Look around, there are fewer and fewer conservatives standing on your side here.

That is what the rats are hoping for. The right to do their work for them. Like Bush and right wing writers.

You'd be a little more believable if you gave some details and used proper grammar.

Who's the "they" who said it, what TV show, that sort of thing.

You can be coherent if you try.
