>>>We can survive the Senate overtly in the hands of the Dems much more easily than we can survive the Vacant Lott...There was a time, when I respected your opinion, but sadly that time has passed. You've lost it.
To: Reagan Man
We survived Jeffords rather nicely.
There is no way in hell we can survive a neutered majority leader.

There is no way in hell we can survive a neutered majority leader. Poo if the succeed in this every majority leader from this point forward will not DARE challenge the race lobby. I don't understand why you can't see that?

***STATEMENT OF REV. JESSE LEE PETERSON
REGARDING SENATOR TRENT LOTT: "DON'T
GIVE IN TO RACIST DEMOCRATS!***
"As the head of a nationally recognized nonprofit black organization BOND, the Brotherhood
Organization of A New Destiny, my organization and I accept Senator Trent Lott's apology
regarding his remarks at Senator Strom Thurmond's birthday celebration. I encourage the
Senator to not give into the demands of racists who want to keep blacks on the Democratic
plantation.
Sen. Lott has released a statement and appeared on national media to apologize for his
statements. He has explained his statement and the context in which it was made-enough is
enough!
Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Maxine Waters, and the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) are
hypocrites and they are the real racists.
Jackson has not apologized for his 'Hymie' town comments, nor for his forty years of immoral
leadership; Sharpton has never apologized for his role in the Tawana Brawley disgrace;
members of the Congressional Black Caucus have never asked fellow Democrat Sen. Robert
Byrd to step down for using the word 'nigger' twice on national television.
Black and white Democrats alike who continue to demand that he [Lott] step down are doing so
only for political reasons. And Republicans who fail to support him are displaying cowardice.
Lott should not step down; he should not offer any more apologies-this matter is done! We
should judge people based on their hearts and actions, and unlike many of his detractors, Trent
Lott has no history of being a racist."

Lott was the reason we lost Jeffords and eventually the Senate. But stoking the flames of liberal passions on this issue, does conservatives and Republicans absolutely no good. Cool your jets.

And this press release will vanish into the "Deleted Items" folder, or the trash can next to the fax machine, in most news outlets.

You know this defense of Lott by claiming others are guilty reminds me of the defense of Clinton by smearing past presidents.
To: bybybill
And he's 61 frickin' years old now, and Strom's about ten times as sharp as Lott is.

Is the "real" issue for conservatives whether or not Lott is a racist, or rather, is Lott an idiot?
I submit it is the latter.
....and he's not just any ol' idiot, but he's a blithering one at that.
To: Poohbah; EternalVigilance
We can survive the Senate overtly in the hands of the Dems much more easily than we can survive the Vacant Lott doing whatever Hillary and Tommy order him to while pretending to be "bipartisan."True.

Lott didn't challenge the race lobby. He played right into their frickin' hands. I cannot understand why you don't see that. Why?? You can ask that? Hell look at the results for Petes sake. Poohbah I have modern history on my side. If Lott steps down because of this it will only feed the beast.
To: Reagan Man
We "lost" Jeffords because HE is a pompous, back stabbing, fool.

I disagree. I think HE should suggest he step down as leader for the good of the republican party. Then I think he should be put on the appropriations committee as chair opposite Byrd. Talk about cutting the legs out from under the dems. Oh yeah, and I think the pubbies should elect the most conservative guy they can find as leader. Lott, if he handles it right, can end up in a great position, re-hab his image, look gracious and generous, and make all the ravaging mob look stupid. IF he has the backbone to do this and the smarts to handle it properly.
To: hole_n_one
I agree. I hate the thought of being ridiculed by the likes of jackson, Sharpton, Algore, etc.
But I think this isn't going to go away any time soon: thanks to Lott, the Dems have just what they've been scrambling for. A stick to beat us with.
I believe Lott is a liability and has no one to blame but himself.

I have reply #34 in the pool for when you post the word abortion on this thread. I just posted at reply #34 thereby ruining my chance at winning the pool!
The following question then begs to be asked....
Who's the bigger idiot....Trent Lott or me?
