Totally off the wall question; I have FOX news on and could somebody tell me WHY Dell Computer has yanked Steven whatisname from its tv commercials and replaced him with a group of witless, annoying nerds with a cloying story line? I'm a stockholder in that company and the "old" Dell commercials were witty, well-staged and sold the product; the latest ones are limp and grating.

In this LA "general elections" there are two and only two candidates, and LA does not permit write-ins.

I like Parker. I actually fully expect him to be a conservative within 20 years. He is at that stage where he still believes the bad things he thinks about us, and the good things he thinks about the Democrats. Eventually, reality will force him to choose- drink the kool-ade and cynically defend the Democrats because that is where he wanted to be in the first place, or realize that everything he ever believed was based on false premises and become a conservative.
I think the latter will happen to him.

I agree, best food in NOLA I've ever had in my life (shellfish and beignets are my favorites). Downside is, no wonder, that NOLA has the highest obesity rates in the US. Years ago, K Paul needed a walker to get around his kitchen b/c he'd gotten so overweight.

Suzie's final is now being put at between 64 min and 69 max of the white vote narrowly defined, not incl other non-blacks.
It would appear that even in 2000 when Bush was carrying just 53% of La total, he had 72% of the white vote. Yet surely no one doubts that Terrell is well ahead, while if the nonwhite vote were to go as it did in the 2000 presidential she would have 50% at MOST.
Ground shifting about Black voter behavior, you heard it here first.
To: KingPin
The only thing they got Terrell on was calling Landrieu the "Most liberal Senator in state history" apparently that distinction belongs to Huey Long, but who the hell can remember that. Yes, and I've noticed that in some of the more recent ads, the phrase has been changed to say "the most liberal senator in recent state history."

Very true.I taught at one of the most notorious high schools in New Orleans in the Seventies.I almost never had a racially derogatory name thrown my way and my disciplinary problems were no more stressful than most of the black teachers experienced.

I noticed that too. That Steven or Stephen young man was priceless. He was the best and I agree with you, these replacement guys are nerds.

Sorry, I can't resist. You mean "you're" right (not your).
To: Theodore R.
but that will not stop stupid voters from voting wrong or
screwing up ........I still think .06 of the votes will be wasted in LA..
Hence Terrell gets 51.4% and Marry gets 48% of the vote

JFK lost Virginia to Richard Nixon in 1960. The last presidential election where Virginia voted Democrat was in 1964, when Barry Goldwater lost to Lyndon Johnson.
However, that margin was very slight; Virginia came nearer to voting for Goldwater than any other State that the Senator did not actually carry.

Lake Charles has a large union presence that reliably votes RAT, Lafayette doesn't. Also, the parish is one of the few whose population is still growing, while others are stagnant. The outer towns like Broussard, Carencro and Youngsville are exploding with new subdivisions, and most of these incomers are wealthier and better educated than the average joe. Also, being in the heart of Cajun country means it's overwhelmingly, and devotedly, Catholic, so the abortion issue resonates with most voters.

is this a history lesson or a thread for Senate run-off info. : )
