It went down in daylight, several hours ago. It hit a potentially high value target, but it was too small to do much damage.

Most likely just another general aviation crash, but why hit a building dead on, in broad daylight?

So let's have some details:
1. Did the plane have a radio, and did the pilot use it?
2. Any indications of mechanical trouble?
3. Is there enough left to identify the plane? If so, who was the owner?
4. Who was the pilot?

"It appears to be an accident," said Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Laura Brown in Washington.

See? I was right. There was a plane accident.

From AP:

But Jeff Rahm, president of Four Winds Aircraft in New Smyrna Beach, said Friday that two of the company's employees died in the crash.

Rick Grannis, a salesman and instructor for the firm, was the pilot, and sales manager Garry Williams was the passenger, Rahm said.

"We have no answers," Rahm said. "There was an inflight engine fire and that's all we're able to tell at this time. ... The plane itself was fine, but what engine problems they had, we don't know."

Grannis and Williams flew to Marathon Airport on Thursday afternoon to attend a Christmas party of the Young Eagles flying club, said club president Ed Waldorf. They had asked to show the prototype plane to the group and gave several club members rides in the plane, Waldorf said.

Two employees, not muslim, had been given flights all day, engine fire before crash.

Take off your tinfoil people.

Sorry to have missed this! I worked a block east of this building (and LIVED farther east in the same neighborhood). It is a BRANCH of the Federal Reserve of Atlanta (Florida is under Atlanta's jurisdiction) and is not that big of a building, only slightly larger than the average Bank of America full service complex. The same neighborhood (Doral) also includes the United States Southern Command.

For those history buffs out there: the old federal reserve building was near SW 8th Street and 27th Avenue in Little Havana. It was where the Watergate burglers picked up their paychecks for "dirty tricks."
