Moment of truth...We ate at 4pm pst and everything was great even thought the wife forgot to set the bird on a rack in the roaster. I was nervous about the stuffing (dam TV) so she put it in the micro and nuked it. Thee minutes ago she stepped into the 'puter room with the bowl of dressing in her hand fresh out of the micro. Not one person asked for dressing that's how good the meal was. (there were 10 adults)
Sounds like mama is a super cook, better take care of her, take my word for it, they're really hard to find...LOL
Turkey A La Larry King...A DEAD TURKEY
- 1/4 cup button mushrooms, sliced
- 2 cups DEAD turkey, cooked and diced
- 1/2 frozen peas, thawed and drained
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 1/4 cup all purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cup whole milk
- 3/4 cup sour cream
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
1) In a large skillet, melt 1 tablespoon butter; add mushrooms and sauté until limp, about 3 to 5 minutes. Remove mushrooms with slotted spoon; set aside.
2) In the same pan, melt remaining butter over medium heat. Blend in flour; cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until bubbly.
3) Add milk and cook, whisking constantly, until thickened and smooth.
4) Add turkey, peas and cooked mushrooms; cook about 5 more minutes.
5) Stir in sour cream and cook just until heated through; be careful not to boil.
6) Stir in salt and pepper.
Serve over toast or baked potatoes.
This is really an excellent recipe...really...I mean it!
