Congressman Ron Paul will be a guest on Rush Limbaugh's radio program, Friday, November 29 at 1:00 p.m. ET to talk about the new Department of Homeland Security and civil liberties.

Professor Walter Williams will be Rush's guest host for the program.

Congressman Paul has said that if he would run for president he would want Walter Williams to be his running mate.

I beg to disagree.Walter Williams can be funny but his brilliance should not be confused with a comedian. Walter uses his keen wit to point out the flaws and absurd positions often expoused by the (sometimes liberal) nutcases. The primary purpose of his humor is to make people think. The laughter comes as Walter uses humor to reinforce his points, and I don't recall ever laughing once he had presented his arguement.

By comparison, Eddie Murphy is a funny comedian, Bill Cosby is a comedian, Whoopie Goldberg is a ..commie..well, you get my point.

There wasn't going to be any more debate. It was basically a vote for or against that amendment. If there was going to be more debate it would have been on the merits of the amendment and not the act itself.

If the bill had been recommitted it would have been considered and debated again, under rules that would be determined later.

There would have been more consideration of the bill if it had been recommitted- period. It seems bizarre to deny this.

Now I doubt whether that extra consideration would have made any difference in the outcome, but voting against it was not consistent with Ron's statements that he wanted more consideration by congress.

If Ron or any member of Congress desires any influence or even Committee assignments then he votes with the party on procedural issues like the motion to recommit. You can vote your conscious on the bill itself or on amendments to it but when it comes to moving a bill to a vote you need to work with your Party.

Absolutely, that's politics, one has to make choices. It's hypocritical to later complain because the bill was moved to a vote though.
If he wanted to argue that the bill shouldn't have been voted on- then he would have had to give up whatever advantage he got by voting to vote on it. Obviously he didn't think that wise.

And I'm not singling Ron Paul out for this- all politicians do it.
