A persons, personal decision to smoke is no one else's business. I have yet to meet one person that ever survived life.

You can jog five miles a day, eat health food, do push ups, take every supplement on the shelf, doesn't help a thing, your gonna die my friend.

All that good healthy living is going to do, maybe, is ensure that you live a very long life and are a complete and total burden on your family or taking up room in an over crowded old folks home. Leave smokers alone.

Smokers in the office environment, going outside three times an hour to smoke a butt does not make for good use of compensated time.

Who do you know that lights up every 20 minutes? Talk about an expensive (and time-consuming) habit.

I notice that Lowe's is quoting from the discredited Lung Association made up "statistics".
Wonderful.

The conservative here realizes that Lowes is a private company and they should be allowed to run their business as they see fit to do so.

The government must allow them to run their business as they see fit to do. The customer is under no such restriction. The real conservative here realizes that Lowes is a private company and that I am a private citizen. I am not so narrow minded as to think that I have to like or approve of anything a private company does. The real conservative is free to tell Lowes what he thinks of them and their policy.

Whassamatta, puffers? Can't stand disagreement?

It's not the smokers, it's the Nico-Nazis who can't stand any dissension or disagreement. They will use everything from economic pressure (as Lowe's) all the way up to naked governmental force (as California) to force their beliefs onto the entire population.

It's the puffers, in this case, trying to boycott Lowe's. Since Lowe's has made a corporate decision I agree with, I intend to buycott (note spelling) Lowe's. The puffers, who love to rant about freedom, don't seem to like it when I exercise my freedom in a manner they don't like. Awww. Po' babies.

I DID say that. Go back and read all my posts. "The Conservative here?" Why would I be here if I were not a Republican?

I don't think the idea was to boycott Lowes. The idea is that if they are going to have such a restrictive policy against smokers, why would smokers want to do business with them.
To my way of thinking a boycott involves the public at large, not just a segment of it.
That said, if it's a large enough segment it will hurt them.

Booze is legal too but there is no use of booze sanctioned by employers on premise.

I wonder if the driver and pit crew in NASCAR that have LOWE'S as their sponsor will have to quit smoking too!!

Good point. It seems rather hypocritical that they have such a firn anti-smoking stance yet spend millions of dollars to sponsor Jimmie Johnson's #48 car in the Winston Cup Series.

Well, THAT'S off the wall!!! At least smoking doesn't put a person in LA-LA land! And it's ILLEGAL to drink and drive, right?

I have no problem with it. It is their store, land, vehicles. They hire your time. Fine. I just know a bunch of smoking tradesment that won't ever go there, or ever suggest a customer buy there.

I don't smoke, never have. I just can't stand the increase taxes, the lieing that the money will go to smokers health, and the crypto nazism of the citizens becoming a tax animal to be bleed white by the state and all that suck off its malignant brest. So, Lowe's can count me out.

I was just informed by my company that any form of chew or snuff inside will now be forbidden as well as smoking, and no breaks to go outside for tobacco either. When I asked the reason, I was told that "people might be offended by it". And this is for areas where no customer will ever see. Actually I suspect it has something to do with lowering the company's insurance rate a few pennies.

No thats merely illustrating that your argument that tobacco is legal was justification for using it at work. Its legality has nothing to do with this issue.

Sorry, didn't complete last post correctly.

I meant to say thats merely illustrating that your argument that tobacco is legal was justification for allowing its use at work was not valid. Legality of tobacco has nothing to do with the issue of allowing its use at work or on company property.

TIme for the morning tea.

I posted this as an FYI! So people can make their own decision about further spending their money at LOWE'S!

Time for MY coffee and cigarette!
