I happen to like to watch Steven Seagal,he is a differant actor than most hollywood has to offer.Yes,his screenplays are not the best but he has something most actors do not in a violent scene, control.I have watched just about every martial art movie there is but, seagal has the look that maybe he's been there before.I realy know nothing about him personaly,I realy never cared, but I heard he was capable of actualy doing real time what you see him do on the screen .Any one care to comment on what they realy know about seagal?I would like to know.

I have a martial arts background from 30 years ago. Seagal appears to be VERY highly trained in Okinawa style karate along with some Japanese variations up to the sixth degree. He's the best I've seen in the movies. He's almost invulnerable to attack from the average black belt. My impression is that many of the scenes in his movies ate not stages, but he's playing with the other actors. The guy is built like a python and has fast reflexes.
Unfortunately, he seems to be going left wing nuts.

In the main, I concur. He has a good stage presence.

Seagal's fighting skills are outstanding. He's an accomplished martial artist. The stuff he did in "Above The Law" would work in the real world, if you had the strength and speed. Of course in the bar fight they wouldn't have fought him one at a time.

Here's the deal on Seagal. He got started making pictures with a pharmacist turned producer from Brooklyn/Staten Island. This guy, Julius Nasso, is connected up to his chin.
The $$$ they got started with came from guess who? When SS got too big for the relationship and struck out without JN the bent nose boys imposed a tax of $150k per picture. The FEDS called it extortion and JN is awaiting trial. SS learned the hard way who's really tough.

He seems to be highly trained in the martial arts. He has the look of someone who knows what to do. I think he has a terrible high sissy voice, but I enjoyed the movie "Besieged." It was well done, not as cartoonish as most action movies. The casting was great.
