Right now, liberal media bias is conspiring to assist the Democrats to sleepwalk over the cliff. It's getting to the point where I almost wish nobody would point this out, lest it ruin a good thing.
Not to worry. They can't help themselves anyway. They sincerely think they're moderates! And they are--according to the code which defines moderation as cowardice. It takes courage to leave the herd--and that just wouldn't be "moderate."

What about all those network boobs who gave us the fawning puff pieces about how Bill Clinton's crowd-pulling rock-star charisma is bigger than ever on the campaign trail? Sure, he pulls crowds--of Republicans, to the polls.

Yeah... the Democrats used to make jokes about Bob Dole and his viagra... but have you noticed whose party no longer exudes sex appeal (if you leave Bubba aside) since its male candidates seem to come straight out of the geezers' ward? Yup, the Democrats seem short on youth AND viagra these days. No wonder they're losing the female vote under 30 and that's something they're b*tching about since if they lose the fabled "gender gap" there goes the country.

The press coverage of Republicans weeds out our moral weaklings and keeps theirs in power. Bob Packwood (gone); Bill Clinton (further empowered, to the chagrin of the Dems)... Interesting thought. Sorta like 'the north wind made the Vikings.' Bob Livingston another example?

...which might suggest even to our dopey press that perhaps the rent-a-quote spokeswomen don't represent quite as many women as they claim to. They know this. NOW boasts membership of 185,000 (which is probably inflated) and Kim Gandy is all over the place (and Patricia Ireland before her) while CWA has about 480,000 members but nobody has ever heard of Sandy Rios.

"Remind me never to complain about ''liberal media bias'' again. Right now, liberal media bias is conspiring to assist the Democrats to sleepwalk over the cliff." ROFL! Go Dems!! Now, instead of getting angry at liberal media bias, my only refrain shall be: "You Go Girl!"....lol.

The "women's issues" crowd are the protestors from the 60's and early 70's. Abortion is an issue to them, because they remember when birth control was hard to come by (the pill was not generally available, and condoms were sold in men's rooms in sleazy joints), and abortions were done in back alleys, sometimes with disastrous consequences. Of course, prior to DNA testing, many men could escape responsibility for a child.
They're also against the war in Nam (and all wars are equal to Nam in their minds).
They're also against the limits on job opportunities for women and Blacks that existed when they were young.
They're caught in a time warp. "Women's issues" are more aptly "issues 60+ women had 25+ years ago". Younger women don't relate to those issues any more than most women alive today relate to the fight to get the right to vote.
There was a problem; it's been fixed, now get over it!

Dems do not fix problems. They identify them and accuse Republicans of stopping their ability to 'fix the problem.'
Locally or nationally, fixing problems is not in their self-interest. Now, too many of their traditional constituents - all identified by some minority status - are realizing that life could be better if they do not stay in the 'victimized' category.
So these forward lookers are looking at Republicans!

"They don't get it when I tell them that the Republican Party is sometimes strengthened by the press' double standard."

Now, too many of their traditional constituents - all identified by some minority status - are realizing that life could be better if they do not stay in the 'victimized' category. Exactly right. The Dems consist of the "elites" (the Hollywood crowd, the politicians, the lawyers, etc.) and the groups of "victims" who continue to give them power.
Sooner or later, the "victims" figure out that the elites won't give up any of *their* money or power to help. Then they have a choice - whether to try to help themselves or to scream even louder about their victim status.

Now, add in George Wills' commentary on gerrymandering from today's "This Week" and you have the explanation for the wins they did get.
