A good idea, I think, would be for Maine's people to rally for welfare reform, so the state's beneifts are at the least no more generous than those of other states. This would eliminate an influx of all members of the human race who would travel here solely for generous benefits.

That's probably a more realistic goal. Life as an idealist is always disappointing. But, I am relentless in the face of futility. That is why I continually put forth hopeless, yet principled ideas and decry those who oppose me as socialists. It doesn't help all that much, but at least when I'm 80 years old and we live in a communist utopia, I will know that I at least tried to warn everyone. That will give me some small comfort when Big Brother euthanizes me, upon reaching the maximum age allowed by law.
