BATON ROUGE -- Republican U.S. Senate candidate Suzanne Haik Terrell won a key endorsement Friday that could help her efforts to unify the GOP base.

State Rep. Tony Perkins, who finished fourth in the Senate primary with 10 percent of the vote, announced he not only endorses Terrell but will actively campaign for her in the Dec. 7 runoff election against Democratic U.S. Sen. Mary Landrieu. Since the primary more than a week ago, Perkins said he has been considering where Terrell stands on the issues to see how strongly he could embrace her candidacy.

This is great news. This will help Terrell win the much-needed votes of social conservatives. Also puts more pressure on RINO Foster to endorse her.

Any recent polls from down there? Any idea which way the wind is blowing? You can bet your bottom dollar "Brown Roots" will have her multiple voting vans out in force.

She expects if the worst happens on Dec. 7 and 50,000 of her black supporters stay home, she can still pull it out with a 100,000-vote plurality in Orleans Parish, where essentially only liberals are allowed to run. It was in Orleans Parish where the hated named "George Washington" was removed from a school because he was a "dead white slaveholder." People in New Orleans make the New York City voters seem also conservative in comparison.

I've seen everything from Landrieu leading 51% to I think 37% for Terrell. Other polls have it either as a dead heat or Terrell up slightly.

What the hell does the Governor plan to do about vote fraud in Orleans Parish. Mary stole one election there already.

I was a Republican (80) before I became religious (83), and I know that there are Republicans who are not pro-Christian, but the GOP is still the best vehicle to advance our views on gov't policy. It sure as h--- ISN'T the Dems, that's for certain. I would not have voted for Terrell in the primary, but regardless of whether or not my primary choice makes it to the general election or not, I always vote for the GOP candidate. If you are in Louisiana, and either conservative, religious, or both (like me), turn out and defeat that black-eyed blonde. Terrell will definitely help Bush and the Republicans. As for ML, let's give her the mother of all retirement parties.....

Carl Cameron of FOX news reported earlier today that Terrell leads by 6 points and that Bush will be in town close to the election to help her cause

In Louisiana, the RINO party establishment and the populist Dummycrat establishment look out for each other. Does that answer your question?

U.S. Sen. Mary Landrieu stole the last election---plain and simple. I wonder what the Dems are contemplating right now. If they are planning on committing voter fraud in LA again this December, there are several factors working against them:

1. The whole electorate can focus on just this race, since it is a runoff
2. It will be harder for the media to obscure irregularities in LA because of #1
3. The Dems have already lost Sentate majority status, so they have to weigh the risks of voter fraud in this case
4. Because of Landrieu's shennanigans last time, local parishes are watching very closely

I still think there will be massive attempts at corruption. But, we will have to see.

the poll your mentioning if from SLU and it was of registered voters...not likely voters. The only other poll was a Republican insider poll that showed Landrieu up by 7%

To be honest its been pretty ho-hum, I expect things to pick up when Cheney(next week in north Louisiana) and Bush arrive here

RINO Mike Foster didn't critcize Terrell's mudslinging against Cooksey when he first refused to endorse Terrell. He came out and defended Landrieu. Foster only became a Republican in 1995 because the Democratic field for governor became overcrowded. He defended Sick Willy during impeachment. He supported Amendment Two (written by another RINO) which raised income and property taxes. Foster should be ashamed of himself for letting his ego get in the way of another Republican gain.

Terrell's "attack ads" consisted of explaining that Mary voted to raise taxes (she did) and that she voted for taxpayer funded abortions (she did). Terrell also promised to vote against increasing taxes, against abortion, and with President Bush. Since when is accurately stating your opponent's actions a "negative attack ad"? Nobody has yet said they weren't true, just that they were "negative". And since when is explaining how you will perform if elected "no platform"?

If there were very many Republicans that thought like you, the Senate would be 100-0 Democratic. That is an amazingly naive, not mention defeatist, attitude.
