I don't think they called off their dogs at all.

Also, I think it really frightened them that we were able to get spontaneous volunteers. We had never done that before. They were used to having the streets to themselves.

Perhaps what Ms. Gore actually witnessed was the "dogs" calling Al and saying either "We pass" or "Send more money". :-) I'm not surprised that they'd try to spin things to make Al look like the self-sacrificing hero.

As for Karenna... we'd better watch her. She seems to have all the worst traits of both parents - and she has political ambitions.
