Thank God. I thought I was the only person alive who had seen "White Heat".

I had just moved to Texas when she was running against Clayton Williams, I kind of found her entertaining at the time....she seemed like more of a mascot than a Gov.....now she is just like a gnat that keeps buzzing around....

HoustonCurmudgeon said something about two-thirds majorities being needed in the houses of the legislature to do redistricting. Is there any legal basis for such a requirement? Even if there is, the Republicans are reasonably close to two-thirds majorities in the two houses. Isn't there any way to peel off the needed Democrats to reach two-thirds by logrolling?

Remember, we're probably talking about a Republican pickup of four or five seats in the U.S. House. I also wonder whether the new day in GA might make redistricting possible. That might be a way to pick up an additional 2 House seats or so.

Chet Edwards won only 52-47. Charles Stenholm had an even closer call, 51-47. If a few Texas Dems switch parties, maybe a redistricting at this point is unnecessary.

I wonder how Texas Dem House members will react to a Nancy Pelosi leadership.
