A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day....11-06-02 How Sweet It Is!!

A Few of FR's Finest.....
......Every Day

FR is a Treasure Trove of talented, compassionate, patriotic, wonderful people who gather every day to discuss the latest news and issues; salute and support our military and our leaders;  tell a few jokes;  learn a new word;  write poetry;  pray for those in need;  and congratulate those who are deserving. Thank you, Jim Robinson, for giving us the vehicle in which we can express ourselves.

Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   I can remember lurking when there were only a few regulars who posted, and now there are over 60,000 who have registered for posting privileges. The forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.

A Few of FR's Finest November 11, 2001

So many people have written me since my original Veteran's Day Tribute, asking how they, or a loved one, could be included in that tribute. Since I can no longer add the photos to the body of the thread, I've been including them in additional posts as I received enough to make another collage.

Still that doesn't seem to be enough. I think there's never been a better nor more appropriate time to keep the faces of our own Veterans and Active Military in front of FReepers--every day! That's why I wanted to do yet another Daily Thread .....ABOUT FReepers .....and FOR FReepers. But not only about our Military FReepers; for all FReepers! Wouldn't it be nice to get to know a few of the other FReepers as well? That's why, in addition to seeing FR's Finest Military Personnel every day, I thought it might be fun to feature a different FReeper (or FReepers) each day. If you would like to be pictured, or know someone who would, please FReepmail me and we'll turn the spotlight - on YOU - for the day!

And do let me know if you'd like your picture added to the groups of Veterans/Active Military below. I will keep this page updated, and continue to add them to the comment section of the original Veteran's Day thread as well.

HOW SWEET IT IS!

She flies the Florida Flag, and flies it as proudly as she does Old Glory. Below is a recent photo of JulieRNR21 with Katherine Harris, taken at a neighborhood coffee for Ms. Harris' Congressional Campaign. Julie is very active in helping to get, and keep, the Republican candidates in office.

The above was taken from our Spotlight on Julie on July 2, 2002. She has worked so very hard on both Ms. Harris' and Jeb Bush' campaigns, and oh, how sweet the rewards. This morning some of us received an email from Julie, and it was so special I asked her if I could share it here with all of FR. She said yes, and how sweet it us, Friends:
Dear Family & Friends:
As you probably know I'm a Republican who would 'walk over glass' to vote. Well, I've got sore feet today, not from glass but from fire ant bites.
Those nasty stingers got me yesterday when I stood with other dedicated GOP volunteers at the busiest intersections in Sarasota waving signs for JEB and Katherine Harris.
How sweet it is......Clinton, Gore & McAuliffe targeted Florida to defeat JEB and Katherine.....they lost and we won.....big time. Our President put his reputation on the line and campaigned hard for our candidates.....Americans responded by giving him the opportunity to break through the Daschle Senate stonewall!!
Last night we attended the victory party for Katherine Harris at the Sarasota Hyatt. As the evening unfolded...the good news just kept coming from everywhere. All the grassroots 'get out the vote' efforts certainly produced the results we were all hoping for!!!!
I had the chance to tell Katherine Harris: 'Two years ago the Democrats tried to destroy you for following the law. Tonight we sent them a message by sending you to Congress!' She gave me a bear hug and kiss on the cheek and tears filled her eyes!
Then I asked for her autograph on my sign....the one I was waving when those pesky fire ants got me! The sores & swelling will go away in a few days.....but I'll always have that permanent momento of our decisive victory!
Clintonism is dead! Praise be to God!
Viva DUBYA!
Viva JEB!
Viva KATHERINE!
How sweet it is!!!
~Julie

"And I'm very jealous of the barbeque. All I got was dirty looks!"

I had a different kind of folk than those you were trying to work with, Flyer.
I'll swap with you next time so you can enjoy the bar-b-que!

Hi, DS, MB, B, and C. Sorry to have not been able to spend as much time here as would like.

Thank you for understanding.

What a great and glorious day to Praise God from whom all blessings flow!

Thank God for our President, for those who put their hearts and soul into these elections (Like JulieRNR21) and many others! Thank you Cob1 for volunteering and being at a precinct!!! It's the footsoldiers that win the wars!

The battle continues - on all fronts - but for today - we can take a moment to thank God for His grace mercy and goodness to us!!!

Please continue in prayer for our nation - and carry on the beautiful highlights that are done here. I just can't participate as much but enjoy reading when I can.

God bless each of you!!!!!!!

Yes, Oregon is a totally mail in situation. However it is not a uniform system yet.

In my county we had "fill in the arrow" ballots, but in the Portland metro area they had punchcard ballots.

The turnout is approaching 70% so I am thinking everyone had more ballots to count than they had originally planned on.

Which is good for the Republicans. Still a sliver of hope for a Republican governor. (This would be a major coup for the Republicans if this does happen.)

"One man came in with a cap that said, "WW II and Korean Vet". I went up to him and asked him if I could shake his hand. He stuck out his hand and I said, "I just wanted to thank you for your service, sir!" I could see the tears well up in his eyes, and he said, "You know, a lot of people have died so that we could be doing what we're doing here today." I said, "I know, and I want to thank you for your part." He told me he appreciated the recognition, then left hurredly to keep the tears from showing."

Tears welled up in my eyes while reading that post. COB1, I think that many of the black voters go Democrat because they view the Republican party as "evil rich white guys". We have a long way to go to start winning over minority votes. In CA, we have alienated the Latino vote....and those are people who share many conservative values.
