Macedonia Releases Ethnic Albanian Politician

Macedonian authorities have released an ethnic Albanian politician, a day after detaining him on charges of playing a leadership role in the seven months of ethnic violence that shook the Balkan country last year.

Authorities detained National Democratic Party member Xhevat Ademi Sunday on charges of terrorism and crimes against humanity committed during the 2001 conflict.

Macedonian authorities said Mr. Ademi is among several ethnic Albanian politicians not covered by an amnesty declared after an internationally mediated peace deal halted the violence.

Ethnic-Albanian gunmen launched the insurgency in February of last year, seeking more rights for members of their community in Macedonia. The peace accord in August 2001 formalized many of those rights.

Meanwhile, an attack on a police checkpoint in a village Novo Selo outside the northern city of Kumanovo has left one police officer seriously injured. The attack followed telephone calls to authorities in which a person speaking in Albanian made threats against police officers.

Macedonia backed Operation Allied Force in Serbia and as soon as Kosovo was a UN protectorate the mujahideen promptly used it as a staging area for their invasion of the tiny European country. More to the point, NATO is doing nothing about it.

Post-9/11, we should all have an active interest in shutting down al-Qaeda's terrorist network in the Balkans, particularly all of those training camps in northern Albania.

last year during the conflict I can say that NATO and United States organised the whole Kosovo, Macedonia rebellion and terrorism.

Kumanovo - controls the Vranje Corridor into Yugoslavia and the east to west road to Tetovo.

Albanian control of the road from Kumanovo to Tetovo places Skopje in the middle of a potential pincer and allows the Albanians to cut the road from Skopje into Kosovo.
