This is what I got... Note: I don't think emailing Free Republic at this time would be a good idea... I can only imagine how many they would get and could worsen the problem more.

Whew. I thought it was just me. I tried posting earlier, but the posts didn't show up. I thought, "am I banned?" and couldn't figure out what I did.

I agree it seems live a virus attack or something. Here in Fairbanks FR has been off today hours at a time. When back on line the symtoms I saw was that you could see the article summary's listed but when you clicked on them clicked on the main article and posts were off line. In certain cases you could click on the articles source like the new york post and read the article. Coming back again now I found a article summary titled "What is wrong with FR for the first time today the article opened however inside was a second layer of article summaries finding the same article a second time I clicked on it and found posts and was able to reply. It appears to me that the system is over loaded with threads running inside threads

FWIW, I've had troubles off and on today since I heard about the Wellstone airplane crash (11:00-ish Pacific time) and a Major Stall (pun completely unintended) on refreshing threads between 17:15 and about now. I would just guess excessive traffic.

The Wellstone thing was the first time I noticed FR was skittish. The original post came at about 10:30am Central time, it got a few responses, and then all was quiet.

lol Thanks! I use to be just a reader of the site-- I joined in the posting at the end of September. Not good to get somebody addicted and them not let them post yeh know! *grin*

Someone just cleaned up the breaking news sidebar, and the posting is much faster. I think things might be back to normal.
