I'm on the side of secular humanism, in this case. America. Why? Because America the only country on the face of the planet where the people can choose their own destiny and change the face of their politics. We still have hope of restoring our national identity...until the left shreds the Constitution in total.
I agree with you that at the moment we are fighting on the side of secular humanism in its repose in our governmental institutions. However, written in our founding document is a far different society.
CONGRESS can make no law regarding the establishment of religion nor abridging the free exercise thereof. However, most of the signatory states of the time had religious tests for their leaders. The founders were very concerned about the establishment of a national religion. They were not concerned about a local population (even at the state level) that chose to have religious leaders. Congress has violated this concept by prohibiting this free practice.
I find myself allied on this side of the religion debate because I belong to a truly Christian nation who has the ability to change rather than a country run by Sharia with no hope whatsoever.
