That's what I neglected to explain with "type it in a notepad file"--

You explained it just fine...I just don't use a notepad and don't want too...I like the board where I can remember that stuff...Oh well...I'll figure-out a system....

As for the Google pictures, I go to the source after finding them on Google...A while back, I used the google pic and they worked...Then, all of the sudden, those pics I had used were red x's...So I started clicking all the way through to the original page and all is fine...I assumed google changed the pics every once in a while...Maybe your explanation went into effect between the time I originally used them and when they went bad....

Anyway......Thanks for your help. And please, how do I do URLs? (Without the naming part...That REALLY confuses me!)

Johnny, I'm not clear about what you mean regarding URL's... perhaps you could re-word it & I'll get it, but no rush- I have to sign off in a few minutes; back in the AM.

Posting a link to something...On other boards I just type [URL]Copy and paste an url to something[/URL]

And some really cool board do it automatically...And even allow you to name the link automatically.

OK... just save this line for later copy & pasting:

<a href="">link</a>

...when you find a web address you want to link, stick the addy between the "" marks, replace that "link" with whatever you want for a title ( or re-copy the addy, or copy something from the page- which is what I usually do... ) and viola!-- you have a link.

That's where the "two-browser trick" comes in handy-- you "keep your place" here with the first one, and use the other one to go to the other address you want to link...

We seem to be in similar circumstances- Emily spent last night ( and tonight ) at her workplace ( a conference center, extra guests, boss away, she's #2, someone has to be on duty ) so I am left with a morose "hunting dog." Taffy gets in her momma's place on the bed, points herself towards the door, and makes mournful, sotto voce' sounds...
...and goes to the gate at 5, when Em usually comes home, and looks accusingly at me, like, "You big ape, you forgot to fetch my Mother! I'm not forgetting this..."

So anyway......I still can't post links or pictures here...It's just SO WEIRD!!! (I've NEVER been to a board where you have to put a "P" surrounded by <> just to make a new paragraph!! My request is this...

Please tell me how to post pics and links...And please do it this way....

Put all those wierd commands (http///.href<>blahblah) on the front and end of the example and then type "PUT THE LINK OF THE URL OR THE PICTURE RIGHT HERE" (But exclude the "'s otherwise I'll think I have to add them too). Maybe by doing that, I'll learn how to do it.

And please don't confuse me by adding that thing where you get to name the link anything you want...That just just makes things worse.

To me all the other web based boards are weird. This one allows you to post HTML code which gives the users MUCH more flexibility than all the other "dumbed down" boards. So you have to learn a little basic HTML but it's not that tough. Spend an eveining or 2 at Hotwired's Webmonkey , print out the "Cheat Sheet" and keep it by your computer and that's all you'll need to do.

Please, please, please don't encourage them to dumb this board down or we'll all miss soooo much cool, weird, wacky, wonderfull stuff and it will suck! Better for YOU to dumb yourself UP a little!

btw, It's nice to see other's singing the praise of Webmonkey. I've been doing that for years. It's a GREAT site(even though they are a bunch of lefties).
