1. A (group of) bunny-hugger idealist(s) hell-bent on stopping deer season in not one but two states.
2. A (group of) hard-core democrat(s) hell-bent on giving their faltering candidates something to whine about.
3. A (group of) staunch HCI-type antigunner(s) hell-bent on giving said democrats yet another nail to drive into the Constitution.
4. A (group of) Dubya's minion(s) hell-bent on doing what it takes to bolster this whole "Homeland Security" thing
5. A (group of) flat-out loon(s) hell-bent on killing as many people as possible in pursuit of personal gratification of some twisted variety.
6. A (group of) mexican illegal(s) tired of getting crappy pay for hard labor. (not as looney as it sounds... who else drives white ford econolines with ladder racks as often as this group?)
7. A (group of) white dude(s) sick to death of said mexican illegals and hell-bent on drumming up antipathy towards them.
8. A (group of) Islamic terrorist(s)
9. A (group of) God alone knows.
There are so many possibilities and so little evidence, all of these speculations are utterly spurious - mere mental masturbation.

All we know are two things:
1. The sniper knows how to shoot (9 kills for 12 bullets is very impressive, don't let anyone lie to you on THAT score)
2. The sniper knows how to elude capture.

That's good, but with the right weapon, it's not an unheard-of level of skill. My wife, for instance, is a dead-eye shot with any weapon she picks up. (Needless to say, I have never cheated on her!)
