But they did grab their ankles pretty quick.

I would have preferred that they had chosen death with dignity to acceptance of the position of Clinton-Administration butt-boy #1.

As it is, S&W has pretty much become exclusively an armorer of police and military personnel.

S&W is going broke anyhow. Doubt it? It's competing against a huge glut of barely-used S&W guns from the company's best years. Yesterday at a show, a dealer quoted me $450 for a brand-new-looking Model 29 (6.5" barrel) he had; why would anyone pay more for a new S&W .44 Magnum - when their guns from that era are much better?

Even before the sellout, S&W's quality was far below their "classic" years of the mid-70s, and there's now a glut of very-attractively-priced, barely-used S&Ws from that era at every show.

"Is the boycott still on?"

Was it ever off? For this gun owner, no more S&W--ever--for any reason. I don't care if they sell themselves to the NRA and cure cancer.

For me, if they actually did get out of the agreement it would probably be enough. I'd love it if the NRA or GOA actually did buy the company. Its a historical American gunmaker, and it would be great if some of the profits were funneled to 2nd A. causes. I'd go out and buy a couple of S & W's...
