I think they meant AK-74. Looks like a AK-47 and shoots a round similar to a 223. There's a thread on that subject from yesterday.

You may be right about the AK-74. May be a Chinese .223 like the Norinco 84S.

Now for me the interesting thing about someone using a .223 is that it smells of some one trained by military or police. They use the M-16 or AR-15 but if it's a cheaper Chinese or Norinco riffle it changes things a bit. I really doubt that someone trained on and sold on the AR-15 would go buy a Chinese riffle.
