Caution: White Van is a Red Herring.

There is no white van. The shooter is yanking everybody's chain with this. There are white vans in every parking lot of every shopping center in America. That's why we have "witnesses" for Caravans, Astros, Isuzu box trucks and now Ford Econolines. Everybody in DC is so "white-van fixated" they are literally blind to everything else. Now we have a van with 2 people impatient people in it---So What? Did anyone see them shoot? Did anyone see them with a weapon? Did anyone bother to notice which way they fled?

If 1,000's of people go shopping at the Home Depots of DC, SOME of them will park next to a white van. They'll note, get goosebumps. Then they go inside to shop, on coming out 20 minutes latr, they find that somebody's been shot, they remember the white van, note that it's gone (or in the process of leaving), and BINGO--you have an "authentic" white van sighting!

That is concerning. The thing that has been bothering me about how they are alluding these dragnets is not getting the white van through the net, in that there are lots of white vans everywhere at any given time.

I heard on Fox today that GM estimates that in the DC metro area alone there are over 14,000 white Chevy Astros. However, the tricky part is how you get the van through the net with the weapon inside. Well a concealed compartment, either in the side walls or under a false bed might do it, but that is still risky. The only other choice is to have someplace close to go and lay low for a while.

I haven't seen a news story that says they witnessed them firing weapons or with weapons, just the "disappearing behind a chinese restaurant" bit.

I don't know why anyone was or was not driving around in a parking lot. The WITNESS was leaving. He was backing OUT of his parking place when he had his "happening" with the van and the two men. A LADY saw the shooter step out of the van, raise his gun and fire. The person who witnessed the firing of the weapon has not been on television, yet. Several people saw the van leave the area, thus seeing the direction it left IN. :) The above information has been aired on CNN, and various law enforcement types have stated these things.

Very bad driving is not unusual around there. The witness was a construction worker. Maybe he went home, watched the game on TV and didn't realize there was a shooting until Tuesday morning.
