To: Free Trapper
The average city block here in Eureka is about 300 feet from intersection to intersection. That is four 60' lots and sidewalks and a roadway of 40'. When you think of 100 yards in that light it would be a cake walk for a casual shooter even freehand. Most of the Blacktail deer (140 pounds) in this area are taken at this range.

Yes,and all shooters don't need to practice forever.A lot of people only use rifles for deer season and practice very little.

When I first met my wife,she had never even shot a BB gun.I took her out with a single shot .22 rifle with iron sights and she shot less than 15 rounds at cans for targets.I explained to her that I was a firm believer in head shots for a number of reasons.

Later the same day we went looking for rabbits and she was going to do all the shooting to get the hang of things.We saw three rabbits and she took all three with three cartridges,all head shots.
