Click here for the full-sized image. As cities around the country hold traditional Columbus Day celebrations, America-haters on today's college campuses will be protesting Christopher Columbus' alleged genocidal megalomania. Mainstream Americans correctly perceive Columbus as the most important explorer in the history of the world, but Leftists in academia see Columbus as Adolf Hitler's evil twin. Why do they hold this psychotic worldview? Though Leftists whine and moan about imaginary genocide, the truth is quite simple: They will never forgive Columbus for the greatest sin of all bringing Western Civilization to the New World.

ROFLMA. And I wonder how these idiots, I mean these vanguards of enlightenment, view the slavery continuing today practiced by African on African?
To: 101st-Eagle
I imagine they don't view it at all. They are too blinded by their foolish ideology and their minds permit no such dangerous information to creep into their thinking...
...either that, or they are too stupid to read.

Christopher Columbus' alleged genocidal megalomania. I'm all for celebrating CC discovering the new world, and I believe that the protestors are just using this as an excuse to trash Western civilization in general- BUT- CC & co. were, by present day standards, butchers and mass murderers.

Not to mention using "whom" instead of "who". What century are these yahoos from?
To: fourdeuce82d
I shudder when I think of the crimes I will be guilty of by "present-day standards" 500 years from now.

...I mean, my God, I own a gun, drive and SUV, own a gun AND have and support children with my wife. In 2502, I imagine anyone like that will be dissoved in a tub of acid to prevent contamination of the body politic!

How true. Indoctrination at the level seen at our universities leaves no room for possible cognitive dissonce among its victims-especially in the Ivy League. I can remember being yelled down by two or three of these punks when only trying to present a dissenting opinion on this type of subject in a class here and there-always by some histrionic effeminate dork named Steffan, or the like... Although it would be contrary to any sound scientific method which the "elightened" should be subscribing to, they treat political theory as fact.
To: 101st-Eagle
SHHHHHH....Don't mention those facts. If you yell about reparations loud enough you can silence the true facts about present day slavery.

Any pseudo-intellectuals who interpret history based on their own leftist leanings today are institutional buffoons.
The arrogance of many rewriters of history is legendary.
To: All
Leftists believe in something if normal people oppose it, and object to those things others support. That's my take on it. Their positions lack any logical foundation, so it's the most likely explanation.....

The US is very hung up on "apperances"; We can give away billions in foreign aid and other nations continue to condemn us and ridicule us.

Get your point, but what societies on what continents didn't have the same element at that time; land grabbers with killers on board? Not many-including those in Africa, Asia and among the Native Americans. It just boggles my mind that these idiots view everything that was/is influenced by Western men as evil and created in a vacuum.
Although, "where would they most like to live today" (the students), is always a simple litmus test that can't be passed with any logical answer. Hey, Saudi Arabia is a nice anti-Catholic haven for the thirsty mind...

Columbus is no hero regrdless of what the left does. If he represents the best of America then it is no wonder that we have sunk so low. History condems Columbus not the left.
To: Raymond Hendrix
Hmmm...where to begin?
"Columbus is no hero regrdless of what the left does."
Columbus is a hero to me for many reasons, but one of them is because of what the left does. Simply put, he pisses off all the right people. Like the clowns in the article.
I think that some of the traits Columbus displayed are quite admirable, i.e. willingness to stake his "life, his fortune and his sacred Honor" on what he believed to be true, willingness to abide the critiques of the stupid and cowardly, etc. I also believe them to be in keeping with some of the finest American ideals.
"If he represents the best of America then it is no wonder that we have sunk so low"
I'm not clear how a Genoese who died some 250 years before the founding of America could represent the best of America, but I'll concede that point. But I'm very interested in your contention that the wealthiest, most technologically advanced, charitable, hospitable, decent, fair-minded and generous nation the world has ever known has "sunk low". Care to elaborate?
"History condems Columbus not the left."
I'm not at all sure that I have ever heard or read any historian but a Leftist historian condemn Admiral Cristobal Colon.
Columbus was certainly no saint. But to blame Admiral Colon for the crimes of his employers and his descendants is simply an easy straw-man for Leftist propaganda. They use Columbus Day as an opportunity to spew. That is all.

Not to mention using "whom" instead of "who". What century are these yahoos from? Ivy-league college students also do not learn grammar. Might endanger their fragile little egos.
