I'll try and do better. We can always use concealed weapons, but we'd have to feed Viagra to the Old Guys Club(oops - another pun)

She has been ill again for about a month. She has not been able to eat very much at all. We do not have any idea what she has but she has an appt with her internist Tuesday. It is a follow up after her first visit about 6 weeks ago. He seems to be a very good dr. who is very concerned about all the medications she is on. He was going to get her records from her other drs. and see what needs to be done. We don't know if her Crohn's is acting up again although her GI could not find anything wrong after doing all those tests when she was in the hospital back in June and July. I told her the other day that she looked like she needed a blood transfusion since she was so pale. Thanks for asking.

"...what exactly is WRONG w/a lavendar tie??"

To the best of my recollection, Ronaldus Maximus served in the Oval Office fer eight years without ever wearin' one...I never liked Clinton's aqua-blue tie either.

I just went out tonight and bought a beautiful gold frame for it with cream colored matting with gold trim, and framed it!

I will treasure it for as long as I live! The fact that she read my letter, and responded to it with specific comments absolutely floored me!

I had read somewhere that Laura answered her mail, so I thought I'd give it a try. It took about 6 weeks to get a letter back (I sent it certified mail, so that I would know for sure that it arrived), but it was well worth the wait!

Try it!

Mr. Ohio wrote a letter to Laura's husband before I wrote to her, and he still hasn't heard from him. He's very jealous! :o)

Jimmah Carter has been undermining every President since he got booted by the voters

x42 must have been taking notes, because he's been trying to do the same thing to Dubya!

I am so sorry I spoiled your day! I had been doing some genealogy work and decided to come over here after I got tired of reading so much about people I had no idea who they were since they were not in any of my ancestors' families. I did pick up some new info last night though. It is like putting a huge puzzle together.

Hi everybody,

Please bear with me as I rant, but I just feel so disappointed about how this Nobel thing is playing out that I have to say something or it won't stop bothering me.

First of all, it's unfortunate that eligibility for the Nobel is determined as much as by what you say as by what you do. That is how deserving people like the Dalai Lama wind up in the category of "Nobel Peace Prize Winner" with the likes of terrorists like Yassir Arafat. Such standards dilute the accomplishments of truly principled, peaceful people as well as provide undeserved political capital for thugs and murderers who only know how to "play" nice and not be nice.

I don't hate Jimmy Carter. I'm too young to really remember suffering under his regime. And he has done some well-intentioned, albeit naive and/or misinformed things on behalf of promoting peace and democracy. This makes him, not the Dalai Lama, but not Yassir Arafat, either. I figured the award going to him was a nice, benign enough gesture, especially considering that the political atmosphere in Europe lately probably could've fostered support for awarding the Nobel to Saddam Hussein. At least I wouldn't put it past them at this point.

But then I read that the award was given to Carter, in some measure, to rebuke the policies of George W. Bush. At that point, the Nobel committee liberal leanings turned into intrusive, liberal posturing, the likes of which are increasingly tiresome and pervasive.

I am tired of liberals, here or overseas, claiming to be morally superior to this man:

Because of his "unsophisticated" and "simplistic" approaches to foreign affairs, literally hundreds of thousands of Afghani children's lives were saved from starvation and disease because the United States military made it safe for food, aid, and administrative knowhow to flood into Afghanistan in proportions that have likely not been seen before.

Because of this "cowboy's" so-called "dangerous unilateralist tendencies" (you can have every country in the world on your side except for France and Germany and still be considered a unilateralist, evidently) something meaningful is about to be done about the Iraq WMD issue, clearing the way for the liberation of that country as well as the stabilization of the entire region.

Bush is doing more good for the world by the grace of his moral clarity and courage than the liberal heart is capable of imagining. And because they are incapable of understanding and/or appreciating the virtues of peace-through-strength, Bush will never--never--be formally honored for his work...just like Reagan never will be for bringing communism--and the imprisonment of hundreds of millions of souls living behind the iron curtain--to an end.

But you and I know who is right in the end. And so does God.

I hope all who can legally carry a firearm does so. and if any of us witness this coward shoot someone we need to chase him down and give him a taste of his own medicine.

You wouldn't even have to do that, Mike. all you'd have to do is shoot out a tire or a window in his van. Mark it so it will be easier for the police to spot! It would even be great if someone were behind this guy when he shoots out of the van and just RAMS him. Even if he drives away, the van is marked!

I agree, When I first got my permit it was like my American Express card, I never left home without it. One day I took my wife to the airport and before I went into the airport I removed the magazine and un-chambered the round and placed the magazine in the console and my gun under the seat. My wife's flight was delayed and by the time I went back to the truck 2 hours had passed and when I went to unlock the door I could see that it had been broken into. A sick feeling came over me as I thought my gun was stolen and might end up being used in some horrible crime. Fortunately all that was stolen was a pair of expensive boots and one of those old bag cell phones. I felt really lucky and from that day on, I hardly ever carried it. THAT HAS CHANGED

Thank you so much. Prayers are always welcomed and needed. I am worried about the grandkids especially our granddaughter who has been ill with mono. She absolutely did not need this added stress at this time. She had planned to go back to school Monday and will have to miss this whole next week for the funeral, etc. Her grandmother had been under Hospice care out there in Seattle for about 2 months. I know it was very frustrating for the family since she was on oxygen and still smoking!
