Barnett claims to have received a call stating he was going to be arrested. Never mind that several liberal non-government types have been picketing his business and harassing him. You want the world to believe it was a reliable call from government sources. Barnett has no idea who made the call.

From what I understand, Barnett knows who called him. It is not I who wants anyone to believe anything - I'm just reporting what I'm getting on this and trying to get some ideas about what we can do to help Roger. But don't let that stop you from making baseless accusations, defending oppresive government, and disrupting another thread. We can just ignore you.

If they plan to arrest him, I'd guess they might choose the weekend when the press is "off duty".

Dont worry, I'm sure the press will be more than happy to villify Mr. Barnett.

defending oppresive government

As far as any evidence shows, the government has been supporting his efforts. If that changes let us know.

Ending Illegal Immigration: Make It Unprofitable
By David Simcox
March 1999
Illegal immigration, increasingly profitable for powerful interests, has added as many as 12.5 million to the U.S. population since 1960. Ending the flow will demand a national consensus to fully fund enforcement, insulate it from pressures, and mandate electronic verification of work eligibility. The public social costs of illegal settlement must be shifted to its promoters and beneficiaries. Magnets to illegal entries in our immigration laws must be ended by restricting family reunification, and curbing abuse of political asylum, temporary protection, and temporary worker programs.

However insensitively named, Operation Wetback in 1953 and 1954 was the United States' last, and only truly successful, effort to root out illegal immigration. Using extensive sweeps across the southwest, the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) achieved the Eisenhower administration's goals. Some 2.1 million, mostly Mexican, illegal aliens were removed between 1953 and 1955. While abuses marred the effort, illegal immigration stayed under control for more than a decade.

Notwithstanding its excesses, Operation Wetback left one clear lesson: with political will illegal immigration can be controlled. It showed how a display of firmness could persuade illegals to go home voluntarily and deter others abroad from coming. The lesson is still valid.

The Republicans had better learn how to conduct a similar operation if they excpect to be re eleected into office.

WHY POPULATION MATTERS

I'm afraid that the hysterics won't appreciate the introduction of evidence into the thread.

I just received this reply from an acquaintance in Sierra Vista:
Claims about threats are always squirrelly ........ It an over reaction to an out-house rumor. - or a "hoax".

The source turns out to be unaffiliated with any law enforcement agency and could not know squat.

Roger is a good guy and got mislead by well-meaning friend and taken advantage of by the APB (ABP?) bunch who thrive on this stuff.

Unless some FBI actually does something, this will reflect poorly on all involved --- again.

(Name redacted)

These kinds of rumors also encourage the radicals. It is getting worse.

I will admit that no federal, state or local law enforcement agency IS doing their job as regards the border.

Thank you for the update. I may know your source. Does his first name begin with B?

However, there is more to thiy than just a friend misleading Roger. And the ABP is not "taking advantage" of Roger as I believe he is on their Board of Directors and it is he that volunteered the report and submitted to the video-taped interview and approved its release. I'm not yet all that trustful of Glenn Spencer (he has to prove himself) but I do trust Roger because he doesn't play political games.

UPDATE! From American Border Patrol

October 12 -- The source of the report that Roger Barnett was facing arrest was a reliable one, however as no action has been taken, we consider the threat to be no longer imminent.

I have never seen anything out of Mr. Spencer that wasn't backed up with facts but I don't follow him closely. Given his visibility, he's been remarkeably durable. I resist implicitly trusting anybody who is both highly visible and still there after a long term.

O'Reilly already made inquiries about the situation yesterday. He's keeping an eye on it, apparently. I suspect he's waiting for something to happen before he airs anything about it.

I think it really makes it hard on the border agents though when the pandering politicians keep bringing up amnesty, they know full well everytime they mention it, hundreds of thousands of people make a run for the border so they can get in on it.

Yeah, they probably don't want us to hear about the FBI actually arresting somebody who was supposed to keep the illegals out. It happened last December, the FBI arrested a Border Patrol Agent who was suspected of working with drug traffickers. The agent pleaded guilty on Wednesday and faces a big fine and 15 yrs. in jail. No, they don't talk about the real stuff, we hear a hyped version of how the FBI is out to get the little guy. Pure anti-government spew.
