Thurmond Denounces Senate Democrats
Dear Democratic Peckerwoods,
When a MAN who parachuted into France on D-Day (at age 41, IIRC) talks to you...
you best listen!

"I hope that the Senate will change hands next year so we can correct some of these terrible injustices," All those who love this country are hoping the same thing.

I think the Dems slamming Strom would make great TV ads.
Not really. Might get the Democratic Senators some sympathy.
Could be construed as "junior abuse" once Strom gets finished with these children
(the petulant Democratic Senators).

DemRATs rob 99 year old of 100th Birthday Bash.

Aren't recess appointments temporary while confirmed appointments hold the seat for life?
Anyone who buys Sen. John Edwards pro-war heroics right now needs to read the Pickering hearing transcripts. Edwards not only dissed this good Judge's character...his accusations were lies. Edwards, the trial lawyer, knows the power of legislating from the bench and is a smooth, cruel and ambitious liar. On Wednesdays, after a busy week of bearing false witness, he co-chairs the Senate prayer breakfast. Rant over

"I took you at your word," Thurmond told Senate Judiciary Chairman Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., who GOP senators said had promised that U.S. District Judge Dennis Shedd, a former Thurmond aide and former Judiciary Committee counsel, would get a vote in the committee. Leahy the Liar. Leahy's mouth bears a striking resemblance to The Joker. Where's Batman?

Strom took a DEMOCRAT at his word? I guess he doesn't realize that the party that USED to be the "honorable opposition" is no longer honorable.
To: Zebra
Wouldn't it be nice if the President appointed this judge on Strom's 100th Birthday! I don't know if the dates would allow it, but it would be poetic justice.

Can't Bush appoint these judges while Congress is out of session? Didn't Clinton do that?
Yes but the appointments must still be confirmed or they last only through the end of the 107th Congress. So effectively they would be out come Jan 3, 2003 or whenever it is the 108th is convened.

I'd love it when, in the next session of Congress, and the Repubs. have re-gained the majority, the Judiciary Committee brings BACK up for consideration, Judges Pickering, Priscilla Owen, and any others that the Democrats rejected this last time!Dream on.
The GOP won't get a pair and become as ruthless as the crooked socialist SOB rats until the current leadership retires and a new younger leadership emerges.

Yes they are--but that means nothing to law breakers (ask Bill Lann Lee).
Edwards is dangerous. To a celbrity driven media culture that exhalts appearance over ideas and an electorate that fancies looks and style over substance, he has the formula for advancement. He is despicable and a walking poster for why lawyers should be ineligible for elected office.

""I hope that the Senate will change hands next year so we can correct some of these terrible injustices," Senate Minority Leader Trent Lott, R-Miss., fumed." Yeah, the old, "next year we will beat them" strategy. But hey, what can you do with a bunch of RINOs in the GOP isles?

You're assuming a gr3at deal when you say these two senators can spend eternity together ... Strom doesn't favor the heat the way Leahy does, or at least appears to be looking forward to it.

Correction: "First descent Pres. ,In eight years" should be " The first real descent Pres.,In eight years" I consider the previous eight years a time of anarchy~( for the lack of a president)

Maybe the RATS should come up with a cartoon of Leahy pushing Strom over a cliff in a wheelchair ....
