Today on the Senate floor, Sen. Robert Byrd (D-WV) said his office has received over 9,000 phone calls supporting him in his actions to block a vote on the Iraq resolution

Bet his old dog Billi voted on this one. It would take a dog to support ole money grabber Byrd.

I just drove through WestbygodVirginia, and there is a toll road going every direction, including up. Guess when WViginiers die and go up to heaven, Byrd will extract a toll from them before they leave.

Wait a minute!!!!!! How about a reverse Freep?

Follow the logic: Since any delay in giving Bush authority makes the Demi-craps look bad...........Since Byrd the Buffoon will stand there day after day blocking the legislation...........Since blocked legislation makes for a better chance of getting Pubbies elected this November because the public will be pissed off and percieve the Dumbo-rats as unpatriotic.............

We should be calling Byrd and asking him to continue his filibuster to stop Bush.

Yes?

If there was a way to have it both ways let's do it. What we need is for more senators who are not standing with the president to be "outed" while Byrd is giving lessons in abnormal psychology on the senate floor....

You obviously did not drive around too much. The only toll road in WV that I am aware of is a short section of the WV Turnpike.

While I agree that the longer Byrd rants on the Senate floor the better it is for the GOP - I HAD to send him the following email. I have made it my goal to run this old coot out of office - and I don't even live in WV!!

Senator Byrd:
You stated on the Senate floor that you have been receiving "thousands" of calls supporting your lack of support for our National Security. I question the truthfulness of your statement.

In all of my 64 years, I have never witnessed a member of Congress act in such a bitter, self-serving manner as you have in the past weeks. You are not interested in the welfare of this country or it's citizens. You are only interested in blocking this President's plan to protect this country. And why - simply because he's not of your political party.

You sir, are a disgrace to this country. Your tirads on the Senate floor are those of a drunken, befuddled old fool. You do not serve this country or the citizens of your State with honor. It's time for you to retire.

Your message to Byrd is so much more eloquent than my "Liar, liar, pants on fire", message to him, but then I know how much he enjoys rhyme.;o)

Hello, can I speak to the Grand Kleagle? He is the great Kleagle, isn't he? Or is that the Great Pumpkin, I get them mixed up. Anyway, tell him he is doing a great job on blocking this HSA stuff - I already have an HMO and don't need another one. And he can keep doing those filberts on the Senate floor, its none of their business what kind of nuts he is...I mean eats. Bye now!

Great message to this flipping idiot. I sent him a similiar email yesterday and got an auto response that said if I were a constituent, I'd be hearing further from them. If he's not paying to attention to non-WVs how hypocritical of him to brag about the "9000" emails from around the country.

Let him push it until after the election. Guess what that is all everyone will be talking about. And there are more people out there that are getting sick of Democrats blocking EVERYTHING. Let him talk. It will only hurt the Democratic party. It looks like politics when we are close to going to war with Iraq.

What Byrd didn't mention was that all the calls came from Iraq.

I agree!!! Byrd delaying this will only help us not hurt us. The Democrats want him to shut up. The longer this goes on the longer it is in the news. They want to get it past them to try to switch the debate to the economy.

Yeah, but it's the only road through West Virginia.

I know. I'm sorry, it's just that I don't like Byrd and I tend to take it out on West Virginia. The last time I was there, three weeks ago, it was beautiful in the mountains. Foggy and cold but beautiful. I had a sack of change in my car and by the time I reached Charleston, Byrd had taken it.
