Sen Byrd says 9,000 support him - Freep Opportunity!!!
Fox News | 10/08/02 | Brytani

Posted on 10/08/2002 3:18:20 PM PDT by Brytani

Today on the Senate floor, Sen. Robert Byrd (D-WV) said his office has received over 9,000 phone calls supporting him in his actions to block a vote on the Iraq resolution.

What Byrd didn't mention was the number of calls his office has received telling him to stop blocking the President!!! Maybe because he has not heard from enough people, yet.

Sen. Robert Byrd (D) 311 Hart Senate Office Building (202) 224-3954; 228-0002 Charleston: (304) 342-5855 http://byrd.senate.gov/ senator_byrd@byrd.senate.gov

I called this afternoon and spoke to a rather unpleasant young woman who answered the phone. She did take my message and said it would be passed on. Freep away people, it's time to take our country back!!!!!!

Politically, the longer this drags out in the Senate, the worse the repercussions for the Democrats. If they want to drag this out to the elections next month, it will give people more reason to vote the 'Rats out, and Republicans in.

Fine -- great -- let him talk on and on. Call him to support his efforts, do not attack him! It's a gift from God for Bush/GOP to have this debated for weeks!

First, I don't believe this "9000" phone call lie to begin with.

Second, talking to Byrd is like talking to a brick wall -- he won't change his mind. He lost it years ago.

Third, who cares what he thinks and does anyway? All he can do is stall and delay; he knows that he's going to lose this vote -- big time. He's just grandstanding for the TV cameras.

Fourth, if push comes to shove, let him blither on. He's making a fool of himself, his party, and the Senate. So what's to complain about with that?

The longer Byrd draws this out the more time it gives the democrats to shift the debate from Iraq and Homeland Defense to the Economy. What we need is the debate to go on, for people to see how their Senators feel about Iraq, if the voters do not know how their Senator is going to vote until after the election, they can not take it into consideration.

It's always fun to ask his staff about his KKK affiliation, too.

Filibuster and Robert Byrd are synonomous.

Don't they have enough for a cloture vote? It seems the height of irresponsibility to filibuster a vote on whether or not to go to war.

Agreed!!! That is my purpose in asking Freepers call, we want the debate, people need to see how their Senators stand on this issue, having Byrd take the floor for hours upon hours stopping the debate, does not help us.

If the people look at the Senate and think "there goes off his rocker Byrd again" that does not help us. Not one bit, Americans need to see their democratic senators stand on the Senate floor and refuse to support Bush - if Byrd continues to obstruct Senate procedings, they will not get to see it.

While Byrd makes for great entertainment, I'd rather people get mad when their senator, who promised to stand shoulder to shoulder with the President against terrorism, will not support him in this.

errr ummmm well....busted!!!!!! I did end my comments to his office by asking about his KKK affiliation. The lady I spoke with denied he'd ever been involved with them, at anytime in his life.

If Byrd stalls this out until next week .... IT WILL HELP US NOT HURT US...

They say Daschle is trying to pull Byrd in on this ....but Byrd won't listen..

Let's help Byrd keep the Iraqi Resolution on the table until election day.

I would love to see President Bush call a special session right after this session adjourns, but before the elections, just to spite Byrd and the obstructing Democrats.

Hey guys I don't know what's up but apparently some of the other Democratic Senators are saying the same thing. I'm wondering if this is being orginized by someone.
