Let's see: "St. Michael, the Archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil...by the power of God, thrust into Hell Satan and the other evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the destruction of souls."
I doubt they know the prayer, but you could say it's aimed directly at them. My mother always used to say it in times of danger...such as this one.
That said, I think the Michael's connection was a matter of unfinished business: they missed on the first try, and the victim on the second try will apparently survive -- so I would not be going to a Michael's in that area until this guy is caught.
I've been thinking of that line.
