I live in a small, very non-ethnic town as well. But there are quite a few people from the Mid-East and India. Most of them are doctors who work at the local hospitals. I know one doctor from Iran, he came here because he can make decent money, it's a relaxing area, and the cost of living is low.

I wouldn't worry about it--if it is some sort of terror cell, why would they choose a small, non-ethnic town? Doesn't sound like a very good way to blend in and not get nocited to me. Keep an eye out for suspicious things, of course, but I wouldn't lose too much sleep over it if I were you!
