Under the best of circumstances, liberals do not tend to be logical or realistic about much of anything except their chances of electing more liberals. But since 9/11, the left has gotten progressively crazier and more hysterical almost by the week. How big has the reality disconnect gotten?

Bartcop's Political Humor, a web site that has multiple pictures up that compare George Bush to a Nazi, had this to say...

"Freedom? When's the last time we saw any freedom in the United States?"

In an interview with Steve Earle, the left-wing British paper 'The Independent' speculated that Earle might be ARRESTED AND HELD WITHOUT TRIAL for criticizing Bush...

"...So far, his enshrined right to free speech has allowed him to speak his mind openly on such matters; but under the sweeping provisions of the so-called Patriot Act, he could probably be arrested and held without trial for giving aid and succour to the enemy by criticising the President's plans."

One of left's most beloved cartoonists, Ted 'Terror Widows' Rall apparently believes that dissent is no longer allowed in the US -- even as he dissents...

"We've lost a great deal during the past year. For one thing, the September 11 attacks became a pretend president's pretext to eviscerate the First Amendment and other basic rights. Stifling even the slightest whimpers of dissent may end up killing the two-party political system, long crippled and ineffectual, once and for all."

A large contingent of lefties at the Democratic Underground Forums have become convinced that Bush actually planned and executed 9/11 or at least allowed it to happen -- despite public confessions from members of al-Queda. Here's an example...

"I'm ashamed to admit I can't remember when it dawned on me that Bush knew. I know it was in the first couple weeks and the Chimp was on TV, when my jaw dropped and I screamed "You knew, you sob" I knew it then in my gut and from all I've read since, I know it in my heart and mind now."

Counterpunch posted a now infamous poem by New Jersey poet laureate Amiri Bakara that repeats the oft disproven lie that Jews didn't go to the WTC on 9/11 (among other things)...

Incidentally, Bakara believes that the US, Israel, Germany, France, Russia and England all knew that 9/11 was going to occur and says that the, 'Democratic Party is saying the same thing.'

This sort of unhinged and creepy lunacy is spreading like a virus through the left and not just on the fringes. Snapping them out of it is nearly impossible. Reminding them of 9/11 doesn't help, it's already an irrelevant historical event to them that no longer has anything to do with what we're doing today. They will generally admit that Saddam Hussein is dangerous, but their words have the hollow ring of a mental patient telling a doctor that, 'I really don't think I'm Jesus anymore so can you please take the straitjacket off?' They're so paranoid that Conservatives can never get through to them. In fact, just mentioning this editorial to them will probably cause them to start screaming, "police state, police state, police state" while they start looking for the brown shirts who they believe are about to haul them away to a FEMA internment camp.

So that's why we need liberals to step up -- the ones who are still sane -- to try to snap their comrades on the left out of their psychosis. Your first step will be to take them to a secure location where you can convince them that they're safe from 'agents of the government' who may be watching them (allow them to put on their tinfoil hats if it'll make them feel better). Then explain to them that they're not going to be rounded up and taken away for not agreeing with George Bush, that al-Queda carried out 9/11, and that there are 'bad people' in the world who want to hurt us. At this point, they may very well start screaming, "the voices in my head say you're trying to trick me" as they ram their heads into the wall over and over. But if you stay firm, if you stay strong, you can help bring them back to reality. However, I do have one word of warning. Unless you have two or three friends nearby to help restrain them, never, ever, explain to them that it's, "not about the oil." That much truth can even bring strong liberals to their knees...

I think that one is from William Pitts. The guy who is helping Scott Ritter write a book. He has written other really viscious and disgusting things that , of course, make him a hero to the left. Too bad there is no conservative talk show host that would confront him about his writings. Notice how he "knows" in the first couple of weeks with no evidence put forth. Typical liberal. After that no amount of evidence will change a liberals mind. Cuz, they don't use evidence in the first place.

You can't have a rational discourse with someone when, like Humpty Dumpty, they decide what the heck the words mean:

You can't have a rational discourse with someone when nothing is true, or all equally true, because all "truth" is just something made up by the white, patriarchical, power structure. And therefore they can define "truth" to be whatever they choose to call it. For them, as Orwell said, "Ignorance is Strength."

Of course leftists aren't rational. If they couldn't get jobs in academia or government, they would starve to death - natural selection in action. My theory is, that's why they want big government. Otherwise, they know deep inside themselves, they would literally die if they had to compete in the real world.

Amen. Good post. The loony left is made up of 1)bully elites - the popular cruel kids, and 2) those who want to be popular - cowards. The first bunch teach the rest and provide the entertainment/news. When they're in power, the world is all aglow, no wars, no hunger, no crime, no corruption....a Disney-like lie, unreality leading to real problems ignored by the leftist children...to be faced by the adults who are finally elected to clean up the Really Big Messes the children made.

RobroysWoman and I are starting to call them on the carpet. Lately it’s been little things like, when I saw the girl in the elevator with the dyed red (you know, CARTOON RED) hair and I asked her if she was Irish. No sense of humor, I tell you.

The other, of course, is when we see a boy (or grown man for that matter) trying to walk while holding his pants because the belt line is dangling eight inches above his knees, we say to him, “Pull up your pants. You look like an idiot.” That’s right, that exact phrase.

We are no longer tolerant of tolerance and want to be perceived as intolerant. Activity that is not tolerated always declines.

I remember, during an Iraq war victory march, some snot nosed kid (20 or so) from the capitol hill area lifted up his hand in defiance and showed a “peace sign.” I formed the same vee with my hand and thrust it in the air and shouted “VICTORY!” The whole crowd started shouting it and the kid sheepishly put his hand down.

We have to take the culture back, one person at a time. We all need to quit tolerating stupid behavior and words. Yes, they have the right to say them, but we have the right to say what is necessary to make their actions and words appear to be the total lunacy they are.

In other words, “think globally but act locally.” We can even take that one away from them.

I was pretty bold the other night with a democrat at work, I couldn't believe she was griping about the war being held up, then sneered at me, "Oh sure, blame the democrats", when I mentioned they were the hold up.

I ask her who she wanted me to blame? Then she began hand wringing with worry that Muslims might face internment camps. I told her not to worry, the only internment they face is of the grave if they get jiggy around here. That kinda ended the conversation.

We all knew. We have known since 1993 that this was coming. And we have not insisted on seriousness from our leaders.

Now, we are in the same position again. We all know what Saddam is about. And, again, it is only a subset of Americans that are willing to go and confront him.

We can say that the first WTC attack came out of the blue. And the first attacks on our Saudi bases. And the first attack on our embassies. We can say that we didn't fully understand who Bin Ladin was when we first met him.

We can say that we didn't fully understand who Saddam was when he first came onto the scene.

We can no longer say that. Either we are serious people, and we rouse ourselves out of our stupor long enough to go and do something about it, or quite simply we are not serious people, and we deserve to be supervised by fools and slaughtered like cattle.
