In a mid-August briefing, Gen. Tommy Franks, the head of the Central Command, suggested that the length of the US military presence in Afghanistan could end up rivaling the fifty-year US presence in South Korea. That, and another 10-20 years occupation of Iraq and the Phillipines.
Boy, we had better re-institute the draft. Looks like we are going back into nation-building full force.
We've stayed in Japan a lot longer than that - and thank God we did.
