My advice to Forrester would be to just keep running against Toricelli, and point out that, if elected, Lautenberg will simply resign after being sworn in in 2003, so NJ Democrat Governor MCgreevey can appoint his replacement - Robert Toricelli!

Kinda like "pinch hitters" in baseball... dems will now field TWO candidates, one for the dirty, slimey attack portion, and a second "cleanly electable"(relatively speaking) good guy... like bad cop, good cop tag teams... pubbies will NOT know what to do to combat it.
by the way... when in God's name did we start allowing pinch senatorial candidates in our nation?
The guy is in the process of stealing first, when he is thrown out, but never mind, his pinch runner in the dugout was clearly NOT tagged out... so it's on to second, third and then the home stretch.
no honor, no sense of fairplay... and the people who are fed up with no justice and fairness, have nowhere to go, but jail for protesting this clear violation of law by the criminal democrats in government, and particulary the governors house and supreme court of the state.

According to a FReeper on another thread who was listening to jay Severin, that's exactly what the plan is: get Lautenberg elected, then he'll resign and McSleazy will appoint the Torch to the seat that voters wanted to throw him out of. Voila, instant banana republic.
