October 2, 2002 | Judy Woodruff

CNN just broke in and said that the GOP will not wait to find out the SCONJ decision.

They will bring a petition to Federal Court (eventual destination SCOTUS) on the Voting Rights Act with regard to the 1,800 already mailed absentee ballots in NJ.

You hit it on the head. There is NOTHING in the U.S. Constitution, nor in any state constitution, that there should be two parties. Parties are not even mentioned in the Constitution. This is a red herring, and should be dismissed by the USSC.

Not only that, there WAS a Dem candidate that they voluntarily took out of the race. Nobody forced them to make Torricelli resign from the race, and it's not like he died or something. This is sheer lunacy!

>>What an utterly defeatist loser!<<

Good to hear from you!

I want the fourteen RATs from strong Bush states to be defeated before I worry about a state where a delusional communist got 56% of the vote.

If this were done, there would be 60 Republicans in the Senate. If that's defeatist, so be it.

"We will have to wait for Anne Coulter (sorry no picture) to write the book "Battle of New Jersey", before some of the public will know what happened today."

Big Smile!!!

Radio Talk shows are playing this pretty heavy!! I think they reach a lot of decent people!!

Here we go again. Freepers don your protest costumes and print up your protest signs -- flood the Congressional offices with phone calls and emails etc etc etc --

Didn't I hear on Sept 11 some pol read Abraham Lincoln's Gettysburg Address -- you know the one about this was a government of the people by the people and for the people?

But we all know what Leahy and Schumer and the democratic controlled Senate Judiciary Committee really want -- they can't get the votes so they want our government to be made up and determined by their handpicked liberal judges who change the rule of law in midstream.

I can't imagine that two judges who financially supported Torricelli on this New Jersey court not having the grace, the integrity and the honor to recuse themselves from voting on this debacle.

A pox on them all.

I agree with you that Forrester should take his fight to the campaign trail. Absolutely. No way Lautenberg is up to speed and that should be exploited, as well as this outrageous situation. But since I actually live here, I can't actually bring myself to flush this senate race from a national perspective. Especially because we are so close! :) Besides, we NEED a Republican senator in this NYC suburb. He theoretically represents a lot of people, since NJ is quite a populous state.

However, by no means should the Republican party neglect other senate races in favor of this one, but rather treat EACH ONE as if it is the "make or break majority race." Just my opinion.

I hear ya but still think Forrester can win against a walking, mumbling corpse.

The American people should not, and hopefully WOULD not stand by and let their country be stolen from them by common criminals.

Agreed! If voting doesn't work, then there may come a time where it will be necessary to "lock and load"!

I think this is a mistake. I think the Pubbies should stay out out of it. Call me nuts, but I think the voters are prepared to deal with this on their own.

Couldn't agree more.....hope they don't make the Monica mistake and continually shove it down the throat(no pun intended)of the sheeple, it made the repubs look like they felt people were too stupid to figure it out for themselves.

....then again????

Let talk radio and FOX spoon feed the masses. Who knows, maybe(even with public education being what it is)the sheeple will be able to smell the corruption all by themselves and see the rats for who they really are.

I just read the opinion. They actually say that the intent of the law was "to preserve the 2 party system." Hopefully that statement will come back to bite them in the butt, since they just slapped every other party rep in the face.

Cool! Let's do it.

I have nothing against Forrester trying hard to win. Or against you busting a** to make it happen.

But if the corpse wins, it just means NJ is a far left bastion (which we know from 2000).

What does it mean that the two strongest Bush states in the nation have four RAT Senators?

I'm curious, the voters of NJ came out a voted for Torch in the primary and he was their man. Now the Torch decides (with a little shove) that he no longer wants to run. Do the voters get a say in who is replacing him? Is this Lauten(?) dude the guy who took second place to the Torch in the primary? Or is this some guy the DNC picked to take Torch's place?

This should make the other states aware of what could happen in their state!!

I think it's a big bonus. The Republicans should turn out a vote so big that there will be no doubt.

Now perhaps you are thinking that the Federal Supreme Court is the same as the NJ Supreme Court.

No! I don't think that.

I was merely stating what one of the justices said about the military ballot being sent out before a certain day and stating it is now 1 day past that time and they will probably continue sending them even though the deadline has passed.

I'm nor sure if they were talking about the State Statute or the Federal Statute, but I am almost sure it was a 45 day thing.

Good heavans! Forrester was way ahead in the polls. He has traction, funding, and name recognition. And you think these schemes are making the DNC more popular in New Jersey? Gore was running essentially as an incumbent, with relative peace, and the appearance of prosperity. And he only had a 7% lead in the highly democratic New Jersey? And that was two years ago. A lot has happened in the last two years. Corzine also is scandal ridden I hear. New Jersey is clearly getting fed up with the DNC.

And you want to write them off? LOL.

To top it off, they are violating Federal law with the absentee ballots. This is one big mess, and the DNC is not looking very strong in New Jersey.

At the very least, think long term. NJ voters are becoming disillusioned. This is not the time to cut them off. Even if a meteor falls over Forrester's head, ending his senate race, the soul of NJ needs to be fought over for future battles as well. FReegards....

You are right it is 34 days before the election.

"THE TIME TO TIE UP THE NEW BALLOT REPLACING SCHEME OF THE SCONJ IS NOW!!!! The SCONJ might learn that there is a reason for deadlines passed by legislatures, AND THAT THE COURTS AREN'T SUPERLEGISLATURES."

Brilliant! Let's all pass this suggestion on to Republicans in NJ. Highlight how absurd this ploy by the dems and the new jersy supreme losers really is. Fabulous!
