Tommy's Tantrum (Dem Meltdown)

Tommy’s Tantrum
by Jennifer King, Managing Editor

"The Heretical Housewife"

Last week, the Democratic Party took a remarkable leap to the far Left. Despite ample evidence that the American people hold a dim view of the loopy, anti-American, anti-military Left, the Dems trotted out the usual suspects in order to parrot the new Party Line - “No War With Iraq” (at least before the election).

First came Al Gore, still droning on like he’s lecturing a class of dimwitted five year olds. Gore easily won the “nervous Nixon” award for onscreen profuse perspiration, as he relentlessly proved why he should never again be considered a serious political figure.

His speech (allegedly written by the aptly named “Meathead”, Rob Reiner) was rife with Bush bashing, fear mongering code words, anti-American bromides, and dark asides about the secret underground political machinations of the Republicans. It was both puerile and breathtakingly dishonest, with absurd claims that Bush had “abandoned Afghanistan”, and had not sufficiently punished those who committed the atrocities of September 11th. Peddle that in Tora Bora.

Gore’s warned direly against the United States taking “pre-emptive” action against Iraq, and he suggested that he fears that American objectives might be aimed at “empire building”, rather than deterrence of a deadly and worldwide threat. Mentioning the United Nations 15 times, Gore insists that the United States should wait for “an international coalition” and a U.N. resolution before acting to defend herself.

Next came illegitimate Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle. Daschle, raving on the Senate floor in what one wag termed “the Pink Tie Rant, delivered by the Pink Tyrant”, took at face value a Washington Post column which was rife with distortions and errors. Armed with disinformation, Daschle proceeded to lambaste President Bush and Vice-President Cheney for their supposed comments about the Democratic Senate being weak on defense. The amusing part is, Daschle’s commentary simply unleashed a tide of corroborating arguments - the Democrats ARE notorious for failing to notice and failing to act when America is threatened by the forces of evil.

Meticulously catalogued by both David Horowitz and Sean Hannity, respectively, in their recently published books, the Democrats have an appalling track record with regards to national security. Long gone are the Harry Trumans and the Scoop Jacksons, replaced instead with ex-peaceniks who, at heart, simply can’t get over their worldview in which America is always at fault.

Reflecting bombastically upon this adage, Ted Kennedy next took center stage. Without irony, the Chappaquiddick Chump told us that “decent people” could agree to disagree on the issue of Iraq. Funny, we didn’t think he knew any. The esteemed Senator then solemnly intoned upon the need defend “our values” and “the value of life itself”, apparently never considering the contrast between his words and his own role as cultural war crusader and pro-abortion zealot.

Kennedy, who never saw a social spending program he didn’t like, has amazingly developed a new concern for the taxpayer dollar, as he warned of depleting American “blood and treasure”. Kennedy, who’s also voted for every resolution stripping down the U.S. defense establishment, warned of “stretching our military resources too thin.“ Nice of him to be concerned. Lastly, surprising no one, Kennedy also sought the shelter of the U.N. umbrella. He’s willing to give Saddam until the end of October in order to comply with a U.N. resolution, despite a former Iraqi official testifying that Saddam could be nuke ready in a few mere months.

The last character in the kabuki provided a bit more comic relief. “Baghdad Babs”, whose fundraising efforts on behalf of the Democratic Party have apparently led her to a new position as a major policy wonk, sent out a shrill memo to Dick “Gebhardt”(sic). Babs warned direly that “Sadam”(sic) hadn’t bombed the Twin Towers and, after all, Bush was only going to attack Iraq because of his buddies at Big Logging. Remember, this is a woman who won’t use the loo unless it’s got fresh flowers floating about. Just the type who should be deciding on the defense of the United States. What she really needs is a Scud to perch upon while singing - “Kumbaya“ comes to mind.

The “McGovern” wing of the Democratic Party has thus clawed its way to the forefront, after years of remaining hidden behind Clinton’s “Third Way” socialist façade. It is an ugly beast, lending its vocal - and media bolstered - support to pedophiles, Gaia worshippers, Palestinian murderers, cop-killers, Third World dictators and Communist tyrants, just to name a few. The Democrats, stunned by recent polls which suggest that they could lose the midterm elections, are obviously appealing to their hardcore base. They might listen, but will Joe Sixpack? A gameplan which attacks a popular President while the nation is at war doesn’t exactly seem a good one. Ditto for leaving a dangerous madman in place while he assembles a nuclear weapon to use upon us. Tom Daschle, who ranks in popularity down somewhere near Usama, may want to reconsider the tantrum. ***

Sometimes Democrats should live by the old "it is better to remain silent and appear a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt."

"Sometimes Democrats should live by the old 'it is better to remain silent and appear a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.'

I saw Tony Snow's program on FoxNews last night. The panelists were Mara ??, Juan Williams, Bill Kristol, and Brit Hume. It was real interesting to see Juan Williams attempt to blame the politicization of the Iraq situation on Bush, and observe Brit Hume figuratively hand him his head.

Brit said "Wait a minute, Juan", and proceeded to state how Bush had been playing the Iraqi situation extremely low key throughout the spring and summer and that it was the Democrats who asked for the public debate on Iraq. That if Bush had tried to defer the discussion on Iraq, the Democrats would have made a big issue out of it, by accusing Bush of not wanting to inform the public prior to the election "for political purposes".

I recall also, a couple of weeks ago that Daschle said that Congress couldn't take up the Iraqi issue because Bush had not asked for a Congressional resolution. When Bush promptly reequested a Congressional resolution, it was obvious that Daschle had played right into Bush's hands. I suspect that is the primary reason why Daschle had his temper trantrum last week, to try to divert attention.

When Brit stated near the end of the discussion that the Democrats wanted it both ways but couldn't have it both ways, every panelist was forced to agree that the Democrats had created their own political mess! It was great!

Good post. The DemonRats sure hate it when you point out their indifference to national security.

I listened to the content of Algore's speech even though he is stupid and hard to listen to. (Damn right, I called him stupid. In spite of his liberal "intellectual" label, he's failed out of damn near every school he's ever attended.) He talks slow and slurs like he's on a 7-beer buzz. And that annoying lisp keeps slipping out no matter how hard he tries to control it, which is probably why he's so stiff and slow when he talks.

I am surprised Brit did not hit them with the quote I e-mailed to him (and all the other Fox shows) recently...

Later in 1998, Senator Tom Daschle - now the Senate Majority Leader -- lobbied for a Congressional resolution to take "all necessary measures" to respond to the Iraqi threat. At the time, a large number of U.S. allies opposed any U.S. military action. Daschle responded to questions about the need for action this way: "Look, we have exhausted, virtually, our diplomatic effort to get the Iraqis to comply with their own agreements and with international law. Given that, what other option is there but to force them to do so?"

Source

I know Hannity brought the issue up the same evening I e-mailed it to him, I was clapping and cheering!

"Damn right, I called him stupid."

I agree. I often say that Algore is the dumbest person I have ever personally seen on a presidential ticket (either as the presidential or vice presidential candidate).

I think the White House ought to play this up big.

Daschle over-reacting on faulty information
vs.
Bush methodically putting the strategy together to protect our nation.
