You're right. Although I disagree with nearly every word, hate every bone in his body, and understand him for the cowardly puke who left a young girl to drown while worrying about his own career, I still can tolerate him far longer than either of the Clintons, Gore, Dasshole, et al. I think the reason is that his voice and cadences are exactly like his brother's, and JFK was an early hero of mine, when I was too young to know better.

Actually I meant more that he is not taken gratuitous and ridculous cheap shots at Bush (at least openly). He is also pretending that, under his war-as-a-very-last-resort-&-follow-U.N.-'leadership' approach, we will be tough on Iraq. He's saying all the right words: Short timetable for inspections, no delying tactics or obstruction by Iraq to be tolerated, and so on. He probably knows that, if we go down that path, none of that will actually happen, but he managed to sound like he believed it.

IOW this speech by Kennedy provides a much more plausible straw for the "can't we all just get along" crowd, including, I fear, many mainstream Americans, to grasp at. Gore's speech, and Tiny Tom's meltdown, didn't pass the laugh or puke tests. Kennedy has come closer.

JFK would be a conservative by today's standards.
