Your story reminded me of when I was about 10 years old and wildly excited about going shooting with my dad. He instructed us with the safety rules but in my haste to pick up more brass than my brother I stepped in front of my dad on the firing line and caught a size 13 Cochran in my ear...haven't had that problem since...:O)

I had a similar, less injurious, event when I was a kid. My father, an avid junkyard hunter, wanted to remove a few parts from a prize he'd found, but needed something to stand on to reach high enough. I came gallumphing along with this big metal thing that seemed tall and sturdy enough. He just stared at me, probably wondering why his son had just brought him a gas tank to stand on while he was using a cutting torch. Then he started laughing, and let me in on the 'joke'. *sigh*

Well, at least I found out what a gas tank looks like! =^)
