Yet, wanna bet *someone* will find this "racist"?
Especially since the very word, "racist," has -- somehow -- come to mean people may no loner communicate in plain, old english?
In essense people are being forced to lie to others?
...& worst of all; lie to ourselves.
...a very good read.
The slave trading that's still going on is blacks selling blacks.
I thought so, too.
Go right ahead, it's a keeper if ever there was.
"Thanks for posting it."
...& I'll thank scholar for sending it, again.
Remember: the definitions of words have *changed* in this Brave New World we live in.
I believe what's still happening is not called "slavery" a'tall!!
Not IF it's perpetrated by blacks against blacks, it's not.
...what that's [now] called is, "commerce."
On PBS about two years ago they had a documentary on Africa. And it was hosted by Henry Louis Gates Jr. Actually, it was a pretty good documentary. When it even broached on an Afrocentrist viewpoint the response was it might be that way or it might not be we don't know. The historic revisionism was kept out. The thing most irritating was that everywhere Gates went, and it didn't matter West Africa, Ethiopia, East Africa or Zanzibar, anyone, who he ran across whose ancestors had taken slaves, he'd asked does it bother you that you may have enslaved my ancestors? After a while it became so cliche on his part to be bothersome. I found myself saying to myself, "Mr. Gates your ancestors are from West Africa--why are you embarrassing these East Africans etc. with this question."
It became quite apparent that this guy has a problem with the fact that some folks enslaved his ancestors and they looked a lot like he did.
Facinating insight into the issue; and, the man.
...but, I'm afraid there's little profit in insights; of, either.
I'll second that!
If you want on (or off) of my black conservative ping list, please let me know via FREEPmail. (And no, you don't have to be black to be on the list!)
Extra warning: this is a high-volume ping list.
Now, I'd view things differently if you said, "Fred, blacks can't get anywhere in a modern country without education. We know that. We need better schools, smarter teachers, harder courses, books with smaller pictures and bigger words. Can you help us?"
I'd say, "Hallelujah! Hoo-ahh! Not just yes, but hell yes. Let's sell an aircraft carrier and get these folks some real schools and get them into the economic mainstream." I'd say it partly because it would be the right thing to do, and partly, because I'd like to add you guys to the tax base.
You do realize that we have the power within our hands right now to bring this to fruition, right?
Favorite lines from a great piece......
