In other words, healthy people, be they young or old, can fight off the virus before it gets to the encephalitis point. Most will have no symptoms whatsoever. A small percentage will develop flulike symptoms. Out of that group, a few will develop encephalitis and possibly die.

Thank you for your help! I have a friend whose daughter is acting "odd", but she had heard that children were NOT susceptible to West Nile. I thought that was BS, but I wanted to be sure. I didn't believe there were any fatalities among children, however. Thanks again.
