Everything that mattered after 11 September — Bush’s moral clarity, the decision to hit back hard, the spirit of innovation, and the crystal-clear understanding that this is an enemy beyond negotiation —was present in the final moments of Flight 93. They’re the bedrock American values, the ones you don’t always see because everyone’s yakking about Anna Nicole or the new ‘reality-based’ ‘Beverly Hillbillies’. But we know that, like the Minutemen of the Revolutionary War, when you need them in a hurry they’re always there.

Steyn Bump!

No pinging the Steyn list today. I'm on assignment & forgot to forward my lists to the laptop. Sorry.

I was worried, I thought you didn't care anymore.

‘Vietnam-style quagmire’ crowd made the mistake of assuming the Pentagon is as institutionally resistant to fresh ideas as the average Ivy League faculty or American op-ed page.

I rarely ping articles, but for quotes like the one above this one by Steyn is well worth it. Note that he accomplishes two things with one sentence: he slams the liberal elite and compliments the US military. That's good writing.

I must share the pain

CLINTON SAYS GET BIN LADEN FIRST

SANTA ANA, Calif. (Sept. 6) - Former President Clinton urged the Bush administration Thursday to finish the job with Osama bin Laden before taking on Iraq.

``Saddam Hussein didn't kill 3,100 people on Sept. 11,'' he said. ``Osama bin Laden did, and as far as we know he's still alive.''

Clinton, speaking at a fund-raiser for Rep. Loretta Sanchez, D-Calif., said he supported President Bush's efforts in Afghanistan, including military actions and support of the Afghan government.

He warned that an attack on Iraq could prompt Saddam to use chemical or biological weapons against U.S. interests because the Iraqi leader would have nothing to lose.

Clinton said Bush had to consider Saddam's reaction to an invasion before taking action.

"Saddam Hussein is not a good man by our definition," Clinton said. "There's no question ... he has significant stocks of chemical and biological agents."

"I think we have to assume that if he knows we're coming ... he'll do everything he can to use them," Clinton said. "That's the only risk ... it's an issue the president has to address."

Clinton added that Bush should finish stabilizing Afghanistan before turning to other causes because Osama bin Laden "is still our biggest security threat."

"I also believe we might do more good for American security in the short run at far less cost by beefing up our efforts in Afghanistan, Pakistan and elsewhere to flush out the entire network,'' Clinton said.

The former president said America's role in foreign policy should be "to turn the world into a global community."

The question, he said, is do "you want to run the world of the 21st century or do you want to lead the world? There's a big difference."

Clinton said Bush had to consider Saddam's reaction to an invasion before taking action.

So, Mr. Clinton, what will his reaction be in a year, two years, or five years when he has nukes.

"Saddam Hussein is not a good man by our definition," Clinton said. "There's no question ... he has significant stocks of chemical and biological agents."

Then why were they not removed between 1993 and 2000?

"I think we have to assume that if he knows we're coming ... he'll do everything he can to use them," Clinton said. "That's the only risk ... it's an issue the president has to address."

I think we have to assume that he will use them regardless.

The days of having a yellowdove, who loathes the military and runs from two bit dictators in Somolia, in the White House are over, Mr. Clinton. You and your kind are relegated to the dustbin of history of failed Presidents.

As for Europe, for the next couple of decades it will be too preoccupied saving itself to do much on the world stage: the EU faces a declining birth-rate, rising social costs, a swelling unassimilated immigrant population — all the indicators heading in the wrong direction. Islam For All reported approvingly the other day that, at present demographic rates, in 20 years’ time the majority of Holland’s children (those under 18) will be Muslim. It will be the first Islamic country in western Europe since the loss of Spain. Europe is the colony now.

So it will be Holland that falls first. I had thought maybe France, maybe even England would go first, but the moslems themselves expect to conquer Holland first. Well, we'll see.

Thanks for the ping.

From what I've seen and heard from relatives, friends, acquaintances, and the general public, everyone it seems was either directly or indirectly affected by 911. I was indirectly affected.

You, I and everyone I know will never forget.
