President Bush celebrated Labor Day in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania today as he spoke to members of the Carpenter's Union and attended a picnic. In his speech, the President focused on thanking American workers and on strengthening the country through compassion. He also used the occasion to stress the need for a cabinet-level department of homeland defense. Bush also toured the Carpenters Joint Apprenticeship Center on Neville Island. Enjoy your daily dose of Dubya!

It would be so neat to have a baby in the whitehouse...

Well, since he has 6 1/2 more years in office and his daughters are almost 21 (just one month younger than our #1 son), there's a pretty good chance of that!

Although I did see a Globe headline in the checkout line of the grocery store right after he took office that Laura wanted to have a baby when they were in the White House! LOL! Yeah right!! Just what every 55 year old woman wants to do.....have a baby!

And, thanks, RWP for your kind words about my article on Eric. The words sort of just flowed! :o)

My guess is that the sweating was caused by the kevlar vest which he wears, I believe, in crowd situations. Just my guess

I wasn't sure .. but it does make sense .. I also couldn't help notice that the SS agents are right on him ..

I've never noticed that belt buckle (first picture in #6) before -- is it the Presidential Seal?

I think it is, but I'm not sure.

Pythonic......do you have a close up of his belt buckle where you can see what's on it (from Vanity Fair)? I seem to remember that you do.....

Ah, you jest, ma'am, but if you recall, the former First Wife of the President (can't call har a lady) claimed that she and Bill had considered adopting a baby.

Thanks for the GREAT pixes -- the President looked absolutely 'GQ' today, sweat and all!!

His speech was from the heart and so were his interactions with the 'folks' both at the training center and the picnic (?) site. He is such a genuinely warm and caring person --he gives love and gets it right back!

QUESTION FOR 'DOSE' TEXANS: Is the "Texas Monthly" a decent (i.e.,pro-Republican/Bush/America) magazine? My children's school is conducting its annual magazine drive and this magazine happens to be a featured 'pick'. I thought it just might provide some 'inside' coverage of the President and his family (at least during the times when they 'vacation' at the ranch).

Great pictures! Thanks for adding them to the collection.

But I am really ticked off!!!!!

The captions to every single one of them said "an invitation-only Labor Day picnic." Just how many times did you ever see that in association with an event attended by x42 or The Tree? And here they've got it on picture after picture after picture! ....... GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Obviously my outrage is not with you, pg guy, but with the horrifically biased media!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WOW oh WOW!!!

I LOVE THESE PHOTOS TODAY!!!!!!!! Just LOVE THEM!

The top picture in post nine-the one where our President stands between an elderly man holding his US flag and an elderly woman, who is absolutely tickled pink, has taken my heart up many steps. It is now my newest wallpaper and I look forward to seeing this miraculous photo of genuine comradery and patriotism and joy and concern and love every time I log-on.

And pittsburg gop guy's next to the last pic posted in post #30, the one where GW is signing autographs as arms reach out to touch him, hand him anything to sign and as pure pleasure can be seen on so many, many faces, is truly unique. I have never seen a photo capture that look on our President before....he looks to be about 30 years old in that photo...

What a WONDERFUL DAY! How lucky we are. How truly blessed we are....And how grateful I am for your faithfulness to this thread. Don't know exactly why-but tonight I'm absolutely happily weepy reviewing our President's day tonight. Again..... WOW!!!!!!!

"(I don't even mind the sweat when you earn it!)"

How true! The difference between Dubya's sweat and Gore's sweat is that Dubya's is work sweat and Gore's is flop sweat.

I am almost certain it is Elaine Chao, pretty &
charming & smart Sec. of Labor. She went with him
to Pittsburg, I know that. Have no reason to think
Condi Rice was anywhere but the White House

I just love every one of the pictures today, rintense! Conservatives are listening to this fighting president, and we're starting to be fighters, more, ourselves. It's just what David Horowitz said about Republicans and other conservatives in his new book How to Beat the Democrats, that we're smart and knowledgeable, and we CAN be good fighters for America. Horowitz really praises President Bush in this book.

Psalm 58

The Just Judgment of the Wicked

1 [1] Do you indeed speak righteousness, you silent ones?
        Do you judge uprightly, you sons of men?
        2No, in heart you work wickedness;
        You weigh out the violence of your hands in the earth.

        3The wicked are estranged from the womb;
        They go astray as soon as they are born, speaking lies.
        4Their poison is like the poison of a serpent;
        They are like the deaf cobra that stops its ear,
        5Which will not heed the voice of charmers,
        Charming ever so skillfully.

        6Break their teeth in their mouth, O God!
        Break out the fangs of the young lions, O LORD!
        7Let them flow away as waters which run continually;
        When he bends his bow,
        Let his arrows be as if cut in pieces.
        8Let them be like a snail which melts away as it goes,
        Like a stillborn child of a woman, that they may not see the sun.

        9Before your pots can feel the burning thorns,
        He shall take them away as with a whirlwind,
        As in His living and burning wrath.
        10The righteous shall rejoice when he sees the vengeance;
        He shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked,
        11So that men will say,
        "Surely there is a reward for the righteous;
        Surely He is God who judges in the earth."

Txas Monthly does not strike me as pro Bush--it takes a few whacks at him. Has at times a lot of Paul Begala debating with the media guy (forget his name) of the Bush campaign--and the Begala puts Bush down a lot and Mark ?? defends.

IMO, Texas Monthly has been fair to the President in the past. They did an excellent biography of him when he was running for President. They have their liberal slant on some issues, but it has been my experience that Texas Monthly "likes to take care of it's own." They have written very good articles on many Texans in the past. I like it for the historical Texas articles they do- very good. Don't expect a lot of Bush material. Maybe occaisonally.

All these wonderful pictures show the President's great talent for 'connecting with people'.

Has anyone on this thread actually seen any of these pics in your local newspaper?

My local liberal rag NEVER prints any like them! Another way they display their blatant bias.......GRRRRRRR!!!

You captured my feelings exactly!!! We are truly blessed to have this godly/charismatic man as our president [Sometimes I get so immersed in the political minutia that I forget to sit back and just enjoy the fact that 'W' is in the Whitehouse!]

Pittsburgh gop guy: Thanks so much for the additional pictures -- WOW!
