President Bush celebrated Labor Day in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania today as he spoke to members of the Carpenter's Union and attended a picnic. In his speech, the President focused on thanking American workers and on strengthening the country through compassion. He also used the occasion to stress the need for a cabinet-level department of homeland defense. Bush also toured the Carpenters Joint Apprenticeship Center on Neville Island. I heard the speech today. Very off-the-cuff type talk, down to earth, and some great phrases.
Here's the text of the speech today. One of my favorite lines was when he was talking about the Homeland Defense bill and ended that segment of his speech with the words "And the Senate better get it right." Take that, little tommy!!!
